Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.7 years of experience in policy analysis and campaigns, working on technology issues or the policy environments that surround them.7 years of experience working within government, think tanks, public interest groups, technology industry groups, or corporate public policy organizations.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field.Experience working with international teams and a variety of stakeholders, and in executing strategies to deliver exceptional solutions.Experience working on core issues of online safety regulation, misinformation and disinformation or authoritative content.Key Skills:Ability to exercise good judgment in a changing and stressful environment.Ability to lead and evaluate issues, identify opportunities and areas for improvement.Excellent political, problem-solving, and communication skills.As a member of Google's Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You'll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects, and initiatives. In this role, you'll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You're passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone.You will join Google's Content team in the Government Affairs and Public Policy Centers of Excellence. This is a diverse global team, working across geographies, business areas, and functions to help shape Google's approach to content regulation and the future of the open web.In this role, you will:Drive projects and positions across several issues relating to information quality and content moderation, focusing on misinformation, disinformation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), content responsibility, and information quality.Provide subject matter expertise and advice to internal stakeholders working on these issues and represent the company with external stakeholders, including policymakers, third-party experts, civil society organizations, and industry groups.Partner with a roster of product, legal, communications, government affairs, and trust and safety teams across the company to help Google earn and retain the trust of our users and stakeholders.Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges.The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company's engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators, and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others' views and opinions, and distill and share the company's perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.Responsibilities include:Advance Google's mission and defend its values.Develop policy positions, papers, programs, and principles to shape the public debate around the world on misinformation, disinformation, AI and content responsibility, and information quality.Engage with policymakers, industry players, academia, and key opinion formers in thoughtful dialogue and advocate for Google externally.Analyze and respond to policy and legislative proposals, helping develop negotiation positions and strategies.Work closely with Trust and Safety, Product, Engineering, and other teams across Google to advise on responsible policy and product development.Google is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
