Job Summary We are seeking a Downstream Strategist to join the Fuels Strategy & Capital Planning Department.
This department is responsible for developing the strategy of the Fuels Business Unit (BU), managing capital, identifying portfolio synergies and optimization opportunities, and conducting financial management activities.
As a Downstream Strategist, your primary role will be to serve as the subject matter expert in Downstream strategy and scenario planning.
You will act as the "BU Advisor" for Downstream business-related issues, providing independent research on a wide range of topics that explore long-term scenarios impacting the BU's competitive advantage.
Additionally, you will prepare research, special studies, and analyses as required for the Strategic Council and other Corporate Committees.
This role requires a deep understanding of Downstream operations and the ability to contribute strategic insights that align with corporate objectives and enhance business performance.
Key Responsibilities: Serve as subject matter expert in Downstream strategy and scenario planning. Prepare research, special studies, and market analysis as required for the Downstream Strategy Council and other Corporate and Downstream Committees.
These reports and market analysis will feed into the development of scenarios. Collaborate in a group of strategists responsible for articulating the overall Fuels' BU strategy, as well as the formulation of outlook scenarios. Collaborate in a group of strategists and planners responsible for the development of the Fuels BU long-term strategic plans, including capital/resource allocation plans. Build a strong relationship with think tanks and industry experts to stay updated on key developments in the Downstream business globally, as well as other arenas impacting This Company's Downstream competitive performance.
This includes developments in technology, geopolitics, regulations, Saudi government's plans, and the Downstream industry in general. Independently initiate research on wide-ranging topics that explore long-term scenarios potentially impacting the Company's competitive advantage in the Downstream business. Requirements: Willingness to relocate to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Financial Management, or closely related specialty.
An advanced degree is preferred. Have 15 years of experience in a combination of refining, chemicals, trading, and retail marketing business, with at least 5 years in strategy formulation, scenario planning, and/or strategic planning.
