Join AstraZeneca's global Medical Excellence & Ethics team in BioPharmaceuticals Medical (BPM) as a global Medical Capability Director. BPM ensures the best patient outcomes by providing healthcare decision-makers around the world with the evidence and confidence they need on AstraZeneca (AZ) therapies. Building and maintaining a deep and continued connection to medical practice/healthcare deliveryCollaborative, enterprise leadership with a focus on empowering diverse groups (e.g., cultural, geographical, functional) to achieve excellent results across shared goalsExcellent communication and influencing with the ability to distil complexity down to what matters most to our partnersCritical thinking and creativityEye for businessWorking within global Medical Excellence & Ethics, the global Medical Capability Director will play a pivotal role in the development of strategically aligned scientific and capability training within an assigned therapeutic area; thus, bringing together the science (the what) and capabilities (the how) to ensure application, adoption and embedment in day-to-day practice. By identifying critical training needs and delivering the right solutions, this role will ensure medical colleagues have the expertise to positively influence clinical practice and ensure AstraZeneca's medicines reach the right patient at the right time.
Typical accountabilities: With a focus on prioritised disease areas and medicines, gather data and insights to determine training needs aligned to our purposeDevelop robust strategic training plans to build capabilities and medical leadership, with field medical roles as the primary focusEnsure timely execution of training plans via a range of delivery methodsImprove learning efficiency and effectiveness by partnering across the business to identify and leverage assets when appropriate, as well as developing pull through plans for greater adoptionOversee the relationship and management of external vendors, as well as budgetDevelop measurement plans to assess training impactCreate a culture that promotes learning across the medical organization, recognizing that this leads to improved performance and ultimately patient benefitWork with learning platform lead to shape the best user experience for sustained behavior changeEssential Skills/Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in science, education, communication or businessA minimum of 5 years of Pharmaceutical experienceA minimum of 3 years of experience in learning and development with direct experience developing and implementing large-scale programsStrong discernment to understand business needsSolutions oriented with a growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit to innovate/do things differentlyExcellent partnership and cross-team collaboration skills with experience successfully influencing and building relationships cross-functionally, cross-culturally, cross-location and cross-brand/TAExcellent written and verbal communication skills with experience and confidence presenting ideas and recommendations to senior leaders/executives, as well as facilitating learning and development sessionsAbility to be agile and proactive with a 'can-do' attitude
Desirable Skills/Experience: Advanced degree (MBA, PharmD or equivalent experience, PhD)Previous experience in a global or regional rolePrevious experience in Field Medical or Field Sales
