This is an extremely manual role, which demands not just strength, but finesse and a keen eye for detail. You will be a key part of the Mechanical Team; each day will be different and you will be able to adapt accordingly. As a Rigger, you'll lead the charge in managing critical equipment essential for the seamless operation of vessels. Your mastery of cables, ropes, shackles, and beam clamps will be indispensable for lifting, shifting, and positioning heavy loads with unparalleled precision and safety.
From crafting to installing and repairing standing and running riggings, including intricate wire cables and resilient fibre ropes like slings and towing bridles, you'll hold a pivotal role in safeguarding the structural integrity of ships and boats. Seamlessly anchoring rigging gear by expertly installing and meticulously inspecting beam clamps, pad eyes, and other supporting structures will become second nature to you. Your finesse and agility will shine as you navigate ships' equipment, pumps, motors, and structural components through tight spaces. Directing crane operations and meticulously planning for clearance and safety parameters will be integral to your daily tasks. Your knack for traversing gangways, scaffolding, and uneven surfaces at varying heights will prove invaluable. Upholding the utmost safety standards, you'll rigorously test and inspect rigging gear for strength and adherence to OEM instructions.

Are you the right person for the job? Experience with rigging and lifting equipment installation, maintenance, and repair A proven record in Mechanical Fitting covering maintenance/assembly & work on pumps, motors, cranes and winches and various equipment bearings, gearboxes, generators, pumps and other mechanical equipment Knowledgeable about food chain block lifting systems and skilled in utilising lifting strops effectively Capable of creating and adhering to detailed lifting plans, ensuring safety and efficiency Experienced in undertaking maintenance tasks such as replacing mechanical motors and other components Additional fitting and mechanical skills are highly valued and may lead to a higher salary Must be physically fit and capable of carrying out manual tasks, including lifting, moving, and handling of equipment and supplies as required for the role Proficient in operating cranes, with hands-on experience in lifting and handling heavy loads Knowledge of load testing and compliance checks Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and on a team Excellent problem-solving skills Experience with design and planning in a technical field Experience in the marine industry is a plus Certification in relevant technical fields such as rigging, lifting, or engineering is preferred What will your role look like?
