Context And Mission: The future of the aerial transportation industry relies on developing new technologies which are more environmentally friendly.
Among other concepts, supersonic devices operating with hydrogen fuel offer an attractive alternative to conventional airplanes.
The objective of this project is to develop a numerical methodology for compressible flow simulations in LES.
The methodology, to be integrated into the in-house solver Alya, will be coupled to tabulated chemistry using the Flamelet Progress Variable (FPV) approach for modelling combustion.
Key Duties: Collaborate with the different partners of the projects to carry out collaborative research. Contribute to scientific publications and reporting to different National and EU projects. Develop non-equilibrium thermochemistry models. Integrate the solver into the in-house multiphysics code Alya. Requirements: Education: The candidate should hold a PhD Degree in Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace with a background in fluid mechanics and thermal systems.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience: Knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics is expected.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience: General knowledge of computer science and programming languages such as Fortran, Python, C, and C++ will be considered an asset.
Fluency in English is essential; Spanish is welcome.
Competences: Strong analytical skills; ability to work independently and within a team; good communication and teamwork skills to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Conditions: The position will be located at BSC within the CASE Department.
We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support for relocation procedures.
Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration.
Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement.
Salary: a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona.
Starting date: 01/11/2024.
