Working with Alpha CRC: Where language matters Job title: Games LQA Lead Location: Barcelona (Spain) or Cambridge (UK) Contract type: Permanent, full-time, in-house Office environment with the possibility of remote work arrangements.
Standard work hours with additional hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
Occasional travel may be required for team meetings, conferences, or industry events.
Tasks The Linguistic QA Test Lead is responsible for leading the Linguistic Quality Assurance team in the testing of all game projects to ensure the delivery of high-quality localized gaming experiences.
This role involves overseeing the development and execution of linguistic test plans, managing LQA personnel, and working closely with localization and development teams to identify, report, and troubleshoot linguistic bugs and issues.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in linguistic testing, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for gaming and languages.
Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Linguistic QA testers, providing guidance and support to ensure effective testing strategies and high performance.
Develop and implement comprehensive LQA test plans and strategies for all game projects, ensuring thorough coverage of linguistic aspects and efficient testing processes.
Collaborate with localization, production, and development teams to understand game features and updates, ensuring alignment between LQA activities and project goals.
Oversee the identification, documentation, and tracking of linguistic bugs and defects, working closely with developers and translators to prioritize and resolve issues.
Establish and maintain LQA metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of testing efforts and the quality of the localized products.
Stay up to date with the latest linguistic testing tools, methodologies, and industry trends to continuously improve the LQA process.
Facilitate communication between LQA team members and other departments to ensure transparency and alignment.
Participate in the hiring, training, and professional development of LQA staff.
Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory standards related to game localization and linguistic quality assurance.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Game Development, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in linguistic testing, with at least 2 years in a QA leadership role.
Strong understanding of LQA methodologies, tools, and processes in the gaming industry.
Experience with various gaming platforms (PC, consoles, mobile) and genres.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
Strong leadership abilities with a track record of successfully managing and motivating teams.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with bug tracking software (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla) and test management tools.
Passion for gaming, languages, and a commitment to quality.
