We offer transcription and subtitling services that combine AI with the expertise of language professionals to create a 5-star product. We're working on one of the fundamental problems of this decade: speech-to-text technology.
We're just 22 people at the moment, but growing fast and profitable (€4.8M ARR) and we're building the team thoughtfully and with a lot of care.
**About the Role**:
So far Giulia, our Internal Operations Manager, has been leading finance management in collaboration with our external partners. Now, as we continue to grow, it's time to welcome a specialised Financial Controller who can oversee all financial matters in Happy Scribe. Your role as the Financial Controller will be crucial in ensuring our Accounting, Tax and Finances are well governed as we continue to grow at a rapid pace.
You'll be the go-to person for the finances of Happy Scribe, working closely with our Co Founder and CEO André Bastie and entrusted with the crucial role of overseeing our financial operations. As the Financial Controller, ensuring accuracy and integrity of our financial information is key with responsibilities covering legal, client billing and cash management to name a few. Due to the unique history of Happy Scribe you would coordinate the Accounting and Reporting for our Operations in both Spain and Ireland, emphasising a need for strong bookkeeping experience.

**What You'll Do**:
Your responsibilities will cover the following main areas of Accounting & Finance, reporting to our Co Founder and CEO Andre Bastie:
**Core Finance & Accounting**
- Financial and cash statement forecasting
- Lead annual and quarterly budgeting processes
- Lead strategic financial planning including cash management, cashflow, forecast, FX Management.
- Management of Account Receivable & Payable
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date key financial metrics
- Accounting and P&L
- Monthly, Quarterly, Anual Modelos (IRPF, VAT)
- Client Billing (weekly, monthly, quarterly), improving internal process for client billing management.
- Payments & Cash management
- Monthly Bookkeeping for Spain and Ireland, Revenue, Expenses, Account reporting
- Financial Reporting (Monthly, Quarterly, Annually)
**Company Financial Operations**
- Quarterly Transfer pricing
- Payments & Cash Management (Payment of Suppliers in both Ireland and Spain, Payment of Scribe users and Cash Control between multiple banking providers)
- Legal Projects
- IP registration of brand, Building Contract and other legal matters related to finance.
- Taxes & State Relationships
- (Liability Insurance, Office Contract, T&C, policies, terms, service agreements)
- Efficient relationship management with external accountants, banks and tax advisors.
**What You'll Bring**:
Here is the ideal person we have in mind for this role:
- You're fluent in **English and Spanish** (Catalan is a plus)
- You're experienced with 3-6+ years minimum in **financial position of impact covering** Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Reporting, Budgeting, Cash Control
- You have excellent **communication and interpersonal skills**, with the ability to work collaboratively with C-level, employees at all levels of the organization as well as external providers.
- You have a great **attention to detail and come from a background in Financial Control, Financial Analysis, FP&A or Financial Consulting.**
- You value **autonomy**, independence, and trust in your work, always eager to take on **new challenges** and implement **new ideas**.
- You feel at home and thrive in an **international environment**, and you understand the value of **diversity and inclusion.**
- It's a plus if you have knowledge of the **Barcelona startup scene.**
This is an **on-site** role, based in **Barcelona**. Please note that because of the nature of this position, we consider applicants who are already based in Barcelona or desire to return to Barcelona.
