Position: Financial Analyst/ Junior Surety Underwriter
Company: Insurance company specialized in the international surety market based in Málaga.
Responsibilities: Researching and analyzing economic trends and data relating to our related industries. Assessing financial, economic, and technical risks related to client projects or relevant contracts. Preparing financial models, risk reviews, and underwriting submissions for new and existing client facilities. Making commercial/risk recommendations. Presenting credit opinions to the Underwriting Committee in English. Drafting facility approvals/reviews according to the authority matrix. Drafting facility quotations suitable to clients' needs. Assisting with drafting credit analysis reports to be sent to reinsurers. Assisting with guarantee approvals. Keeping up-to-date with local and select international market developments, regulations, legislation, and accounting standards that can affect the industries we support and our clients' ability to perform. Assisting Management and Other Underwriters in adherence to Underwriting Guidelines and following risk appetite policies. Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of internal management reports as required. Developing and maintaining client/broker expectations and working relationships with all stakeholders, including participation in meetings, calls, and functions. Executing regular client meetings at CFO and CEO levels together with more senior Underwriters or the Country Manager. Assisting with updates following the development of distressed clients. General administration, customer service, daily workflow management, and updating the Surety database with respect to all client facilities, security, requests, and maintenance. Drafting new security documents and maintaining existing security documents. Drafting quotes for new clients and facility renewals/variations. Administering the life-cycle of the policies in the system. Ensuring proper data hygiene in the insurance system. Optimizing and refining in-house systems and processes to record, store, and report on client information. Issuing tax invoices and following up on outstanding accounts, quotes, and guarantees. Ongoing training and development to grow within the organization. Completing the appropriate IDD Training schedule. Engaging with the organization for proactive ongoing coaching and knowledge sharing. Being proactive and accountable for your own career development within the organization. Qualifications: Experience in credit and/or surety is a plus. Experience as a Financial Analyst and fluent English are a must. Some experience dealing with customers/brokers and providing high-quality service. Good communication skills (both verbal and written). Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing team. Attention to detail with respect to financial analysis, credit paper writing, and facility/security documentation. Sound business acumen and problem-solving skills to make commercial decisions within delegated authority and recommendations to credit decision-makers as required.
