ABOUT THE FINANCE FUNCTION

THE ROLE
Reporting to the EMEA Controller and dotted to the IBERIA Finance Director, the IBERIA Finance Controller ("IFC" or "LE Controller") is accountable for compliance and accounting of the Professional and Retail Beauty businesses in IBERIA.
The purpose of this role is to lead the Finance custodian organization for the entities in scope, ensuring the financial results are reported timely and in compliance with Group and statutory requirements. The IFC will manage a small Madrid-based team in coordination with a larger SSC-based team to provide accurate, reliable, cost-effective and timely financial information to ultimately assist management in decision making. It has statutory and stewardship responsibility for the entities in scope.
As a Controller, he/she will lead the financial recording, advise the business on accounting and ensure external and internal reporting requirements (US GAAP / Local GAAP) as well as tax compliance. The LE Controller is also in charge of the Corporate Governance of the Country, the internal and external audit, and the statutory and financial statement preparation and filing. The local team acts as the Accounts Payable and Corporate Cards single point of contact in Iberia, and is responsible for the weekly mid-term treasury forecast of the entities in scope.
The role requires close collaboration with the local Commercial Finance Team as well as the Central Finance Team and the Shared Service Teams. External relations are with the auditing firms, the Legal Advisors, the Tax Consultant and the Financial and Tax Authorities.
Together with her/his team, the LE Controller is expected to create and maintain clear insights into the nature and background of all financial reporting for the Professional and Retail Beauty businesses in Iberia.
The LE Controller ensures that the financial statements are correct and complete, creating the basis for a clean audit trail - with proper substantiation and specification - in line with Group and Local requirements.
A key requirement for the role is being able to make the translation between US GAAP and Local GAAP financial statements and into the indirect and direct tax obligations, as well as translation of US GAAP to IFRS.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Accounting and Controlling Manage the Record-to-Report and stewardship activities for the entities in scope (IBERIA) in coordination with the Wella captive Shared Service Center ("SSC")Oversee the SSC Accounts Payable team and facilitate issue resolution with Procurement and other functions when necessaryManage monthly and quarterly Group reporting (SAP/HFM) in a timely manner, including preparation and reviewing of the Group reporting packagesAct as a coach and support the teams to drive harmonization and best practices, together with the Global Process Owner and SSC organizationAdvise local business management on statutory, control and tax considerations in support of business decisionsImprove accounting and compliance related to processes, creating capacity to support the future growth of the companyImplement best-in-class processes and systems to deliver accurate, reliable and timely financial statementsExternal Reporting Requirements Manage year-end and audit process in close collaboration with internal and external audit teamsLead preparation and review of Local statutory accounts and filing within statutory deadlinesLead preparation and review of Local Consolidated statutory accounts and filing within statutory deadlinesMaintain Company secretarial records for entities in scopeTax In collaboration with advisors and local teams, lead the preparation and review of corporate income tax returns (Iberia's entities)Ensure all tax filings are made in a timely basis, including VAT returns, Intrastats and any other regulatory filingsManage year-end and quarterly tax reporting to the Group, under both US GAAP and Local GAAP, building strong working relationships with the Group tax team and external advisorsCoordinate and prepare the Transfer Pricing documentation filing with the support of the Group Tax teamSupport as needed the Group Tax team about requests from or interactions with the Iberia tax authoritiesIn close collaboration with Global Process Owners and internal audit, ensure effective and efficient controls are in place and operating, in line with the Wella internal control framework and matrixEnsure business activities, key processes and accounting transactions are documented in compliance with the Wella policies and any change is captured timelyBudgeting and Forecast Provide input as part of the Wella Liquidity Forecast and other cash flow planning activities. Communicate funding needs to Group Treasury for entities in scope. Optimize as much as possible cash flow through activities within the role and with the local teams (Indirect purchasing, AR/AP, Taxes, Indirect Taxes)Ad hoc Activities and Projects Lead or participate in Global or Regional projects as they involve the entities in scope (IT changes, acquisitions, re-organizations, etc.)QUALIFICATIONS Essential: 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and controlling functions, in multinational and multi-cultural organizations, including auditing firmsWilling to travel on an occasional basis to the SSC location(s).Desirable:
