Principle Accountabilities:
The Finance and Controlling Business Partner will report into the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for all financial activities related to the Barcelona Global Hub and providing support for general controlling activities.
Finance Lead for the Global Hub in Barcelona:
In 2023, AstraZeneca announced the creation of a global hub located in Barcelona that marks a pivotal moment in our journey, reflecting our growth from our current 600+ people to almost 2000 employees by the end of 2025 and our commitment to providing an environment that fosters collaboration, creativity, and excellence. These new roles will be performing work across a variety of global functions. This role will lead all financial activities relating to the creation and expansion of the global hub in Barcelona.
- Providing financial control as well as analytics and insights related to headcount and expenses for the global hub in Barcelona and ensuring that the hub reporting is completed accurately within Spain and other relevant AZ groups/entities
- Ensuring that expenses are billed back through intercompany billing, to the appropriate legal entities (as required) and ensuring appropriate intercompany agreements are in place with other AstraZeneca affiliates.
- Work closely with their partners (global & local)
to provide recommendations to optimize processes and management of hub interactions with finance partners from other affiliates
- Be a liaison for the Marketing Company and Tax, in relation to our global hub growth and ensuring that documentation is maintained as to which cost centres are to be invoiced and with which frequency and any applicable intercompany mark-ups
- Work with all levels of the AstraZeneca organization to understand global hub current results, budgets, and any potential opportunities and/or risks to Company
- Monthly reporting of both headcount and expenses by global hub group (including monitoring of intercompany billbacks)
- Monthly monitoring and tracking of global hub headcount growth to latest plan
- Monthly maintain a list of all multifunctional hub cost centres including which business group/legal entity they belong to along with associated partner contact information.
- Quarterly business updates as required related to required accrual updates or corrections related to headcount and/or expenses.
- Managing month-end close processes and reporting for the G&A; area
- Creating RBU, MTP and Phased Budget forecasts
- Calculate the appropriate chargebacks, communicate these costs to the appropriate finance partners globally and ensure these chargebacks are completed appropriately on a monthly basis with the support of the global finance services team
- Ad-hoc projects within the controlling area and Support financial controller
- Other ad-hoc projects or initiatives as required
- Ensure that all activities related to the role and the business comply with applicable external and internal regulations (policies, procedures, standards, guidelines,
and Code of Conduct).
Skills, Knowledge, and Education Requirements:
- Effective communicator with the ability to develop positive relationships and influence all levels of the organization.
- Ability to independently analyze, interpret and integrate multiple data sources, identify issues/opportunities, and implement solutions.
- Accounting fundamentals - understands the basic principles of accounting (e.g., accruals; cost centers; budgeting).
- Strong ability in assessing processes and recommending improvements
- A proactive self-starter who challenges the status quo and seeks to continuously improve.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
Essentials:
- University Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economy
- Experience of, at least,
3 years as a Finance Business Partner in international company.
- Fluency in English and Spanish (C1) both verbal and written.
- Availability for international relocation in the middle term is a must.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint are critical.
- Experience with financial systems (SAP, SmartView or other reporting systems) and able to learn fast new systems.
Desirable:
- Experience of working in a global pharmaceutical organisation/ understanding of the drug development life cycle and/or commercial aspects.
- Experience in auditing positions in an audit or finance consultancy company.
- Preferred knowledge of SAP and PowerBI.
- Project management experience.
