Job Description Summary: As Field Service Engineer in Service Engineering, you become part of the Front-End Engineering organization and report line to the Services Engineering Manager. In this role, you play a critical role to achieve safe and quality solutions for blades in operation. Your experience and expertise will make you lead field inspection and repair operations, train field technicians and resolve blade quality incidences. This role also entails a close link to our design engineering team such as component design, product design, test & validation, and materials development, for adequate feedback loop into design and collaboration in development of new products and technologies.
Your responsibilities encompass shaping the future of design for cutting edge solutions to ensure LM remains a technology leader by developing solutions for service to satisfy our customers' needs for high quality and reliable blades.
Responsibilities:Participate in problem solving exercise of field issues by leading inspection and repair workstreams. Contribute to containment, root cause and corrective-preventive actions.Partner with new technology design teams to ensure service repairs readiness in due time before blade operation.Provide hands-on guidance to the repair development, component and structural design teams, participate actively in blade damage or failure triage, design and execute coupon and component level testing.Work with Certification dept to ensure compliance to standards.Develop LM repair and service design strategy on long term for wind turbine rotor blades.Release documentation package (Service instruction, inspection list) for blade work in the field, with focus on safety, quality, and cycle time.Executing continuous Improvement and productivity projects.Evaluating operational risk for blades with severe damages.Serving as a repair process technical expert for lead field personnel.Training lead field and operational trainer personnel for new repair materials and processes. Competences:Engineering degree (Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering).8+ years of experience in composite material research, development, or engineering.Recognized experience in the field of rotor blades: engineering, manufacturing, testing or quality.Practical hands-on design experience in the development, factory or field operations.Experience in Certification and Standardization of blades or other composite based products.Systematic assessment and simulation skills in composite material. Experience with structural evaluation is a plus.Structured approach to problem solving.Decision making capability.Taking initiatives and self-management based on business needs.Proficient presentation and communication skills.Proven ability to work in team in a cross-functional and global environment.Available to travel on demand.
