In the Air Products world, our Industrial Gases Supply Chain team provides a comprehensive range of engineering services and solutions to support more than 150 Air Products assets across Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India.
This includes Air Products owned plants and those designed and constructed for our customers.
Position OverviewAs our Industrial Gases Supply Chain team continues to grow, we would like to welcome a Field Instrument & Controls Engineer based at our head office in Hersham (UK) or one of our major operating facilities in the EMEA region to join our Central operating engineering team.
The Field Instrument & Controls Engineers will have responsibility for all aspects of Control and Instrument engineering on our Air Products operating facilities.
These responsibilities include execution of large and plant improvement projects as well as plant troubleshooting.
This often involves working as part of multidiscipline engineering teams and together in close cooperation with plant operations and maintenance teams.
Project teams can range in dimension from local, through to European and occasionally global scale.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and lead project, particularly field installation.Liaise with other engineering disciplines, vendors, and peers as necessary to develop and execute projects.Develop and be responsible for a project schedule and budget, adhering to all applicable safety, engineering, and management of change standards.Support and/or supervise and manage field instrument installations.Work closely with field Instrument contractors.Specify plant instrumentation utilizing smart plant instrumentation or equivalent systems for sizing different types of Control valves, transmitters, analyzers, sampling systems, flow instrumentation, custody metering, and pneumatic systems.Focus predominantly on instrument design, field installation, and commissioning activities.Have an appreciation of DCS architecture and plant control networks.Participate in P&ID, HAZOP reviews.Relevant ATEX / SIS experience.Design hardwired Shutdown systems.Assist in factory and site acceptance tests.Be responsible for, and actively involved in pre and post commissioning either on projects that you have been working on or assisting colleagues.Work with the various operating teams and engineering disciplines to help troubleshoot and resolve critical plant instrumentation issues in the EMEA region.Change or organize the change out of defective plant instrumentation per Air Products standards or complying with current local standards.A high standard of engineering practice, technical governance, and operational discipline must be upheld throughout all these activities.
What we'll be looking forA high level of English.
Any other language is a plus.A high level of technical expertise ideally suited to someone with an Engineering Degree (Chemical, Mechanical or Control & Instrumentation Engineering) with 10+ years relevant experience.Strong design skills.A proven track record in the specification, execution, and implementation of Instrumented systems.Proven practical, onsite plant experience with a 'hands-on' approach, including experience in contractor supervision.Experience in the installation, and commissioning of all aspects of field instrumentation.Discipline to work to a schedule and manage competing priorities.Self-motivation with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage and progress multiple projects at the same time.Flexibility to travel anywhere within the EMEA region to support projects for short durations, and to occasionally respond to plant problems outside working hours, with a willingness to travel at short notice (up to 70% of the time).What we offer and what you get in return- Flexibility - w
