About the RoleOur Corporate Solutions team is seeking a Senior Underwriter to generate and underwrite new business in the Engineering Construction sector, with a focus on Renewable Energy.
You will engage with brokers and clients in the Iberia region while also assisting in other European countries.Your responsibilities include:Extending and consolidating our footprint as a recognized insurance partner by assessing, proposing, and negotiating insurance conditions for large and midsize projects, with a primary focus on Renewable Energy.Working closely with the Spanish team regarding clients and brokers.Assessing risks, coverage, terms, and conditions, driving related underwriting processes, and ensuring appropriate risk management when in a lead position.Acting as a point of reference on technical issues in the region within the global Engineering and Construction community and staying updated on new technologies and market trends.Contributing to the development of marketing strategies for the region and representing Corporate Solutions in meetings with brokers and clients, reporting progress regularly to the Head PS; Spain and the Head of Engineering Construction for the EMEA region.Supporting the growth of associated lines of business by actively cross-selling the capabilities of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions and contributing to the development of tailored solutions for clients' needs.About the TeamWe are a team of 6 PS; UW based in Madrid.

You feel fully at home in the cultural and business environment in Spain Portugal countries and ideally other European markets and can fall back on 5 to 7 years of experience in engineering underwriting.
Your sales and negotiation skills coupled with your cultural sensitivity and in-depth sector familiarity will form the basis for your success in establishing new contacts and originating new business.Essential SkillsProfessional Qualifications Experience:Engineering degreeMinimum of five years engineering underwriting experience with a primary insurance in the Spanish market and with experience in Renewable energy in handling International Business.Some experience as a professional engineer in the industry, ideally including managerial roles and with sound experience as a project engineer or on-site supervision including testing/commissioning responsibilities of large renewable projects.Strong team player, business acumen, entrepreneurial mindset.Strong broker and client network.Excellent negotiating/communication and social skills.Strong analytical skills and high proficiency with common IT applications.Ability to work under pressure and manage a high workload.Availability for travel.Languages: Native Spanish and C1-English are required.Nice to Have- MBA or postgraduate degree in economics, finance, or business administration is considered an advantage.About Swiss Re Corporate SolutionsSwiss Re is one of the world's leading providers of reinsurance, insurance and other forms of insurance-based risk transfer.
