Job Purpose
Plan, direct, and implement health and safety programs at the Propulsion Technical Center (PTC) and World Headquarters (WHQ) facilities to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment that meets customer, employee, corporate, state, and federal expectations and/or regulations.
Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for maintaining and improving the Occupational Health & Safety Management System for the facility and assists with the Environmental Management System and Sustainability program.
• Develop programs and procedures designed to reduce occupational and non-occupational accident/injury/illness experiences and ensure a safe work environment.
• Promote health and safety awareness throughout the organization through effective employee communication, participation, and programming.
• Develop comprehensive programs tailored to the plant-specific issues with a high degree of employee involvement on safety teams, inspection teams, etc.
• Assist with sustainability projects, where applicable.
• Ensure compliance of all programs meets or exceeds MIOSHA standards.
• Responsible for maintaining a work environment that meets regulatory requirements.
• Identify, evaluate, manage, and minimize all safety and health risks for the sites.
• Responsible for safety compliance and audits (internal and third-party).
• Write and develop formal programs, policies, and procedures that promote a safe work environment.
• Develop formal job hazard analysis process for purpose of controlling hazards and minimizing safety risks.
• Create, review, and update Job Safety Analysis documentation to identify and mitigate work-related hazards.
• Oversee workplace inspections, closing of findings, incident investigations, and the corrective action process.
• Establish safety team, safety training for all employees, and safety projects.
• Establish annual goals and create action plans to meet the goals.
• Track, communicate, and provide updates on progress to goals.
• Prepare and maintain safety records.
• Prepare reports and analyze required internally and externally; communicate on a regular basis with various levels of the organization internally and externally including required compliance reporting/documentation.
• Review statistics and KPIs to evaluate, detect, and respond to trends and patterns.
• Lead the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
• Inspect organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
• Maintain safety files and records including the SDS database.
• Assist in the completion of required environmental compliance and reporting.
• Compile and submit accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
We are looking for:
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field from a four-year college required.
• Five plus years in an Environmental, Health & Safety role, in a manufacturing environment required.
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety, preferred; Five plus years of related experience in an automotive or chemical environment a plus; ISO (or) Lead Auditor training preferred.
