About the ContractOn behalf of Network Rail, our 500-strong team undertake the examination and assessment of railway structures across the UK. The latest five-year contract was awarded to Amey in 2014 and has recently moved into the second year of our two-year extension. We've delivered these services for Network Rail since 2009. The team deliver a number of different workstreams within Civil Examinations; broadly categorised into structures examinations, structures assessments, operational property inspections and earthworks examinations. With our knowledge of the network, we're also able to undertake drainage examinations, facilitated access into tenanted arches and asbestos surveys.What is the purpose of this role?Lead and control the Civils Assessment Framework Agreement (CAFA) business, contributing to and delivering the strategy developed with the Account Director, and holding responsibility for the safe, compliant and cost-effective delivery of contracted work and for interfacing with key clients (and the Regulator where required).What will this role involve?Own the Profit & Loss account and balance sheet for the CAFA business; drive performance, managing and reviewing performance of contracts against financial and operational targets.Take responsibility for health, safety and welfare within the CAFA business; drive HS&W excellence and champion continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with quality systems.Implement Rail Sector safety initiatives within the CAFA business.Ensure that safety and compliance requirements are applied.Ensure that business imperatives are clearly communicated and understood throughout the CAFA business.Develop, manage and maintain relationships with key clients, supporting, developing and driving a culture of customer centricity.Lead, manage and develop the operational teams within the CAFA business, including succession planning, supporting the 'One Amey' culture and ensuring a culture of compliance.Lead bid development as required, and post contract commercial activity and review.What are we looking for?Essential Skills, Qualifications and Training:Qualifications: Related Professional qualification.Skills: Computer literate and thoroughly conversant with MS Office suite and project management software (i.e. MS Project, Primavera etc), Risk and/or Value Management training, Excellent Client Relationship Management skills, Excellent communicator and motivator of people.Experience: Successful delivery of a number of large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects with experience in either Engineering or Project Management within a consultancy environment, Proven experience in managing the integration of a Programme of work, Commercially astute, with a good working knowledge of contracts and experience in managing P&L.Desirable Skills, Qualifications and Training:Qualifications: An Engineering qualification and experience in both design and construction environments, Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional qualification, Relevant sector safety qualifications (e.g. PTS in Rail), Prince 2 accredited, Member of the Association of Project Management.Skills: Understand SAP, and its use to set up projects, periodic reporting processes, etc.Experience: Previous sector experience and knowledge of sector standards (e.g. Rail), Successful delivery of a Major Project or Programme of work in a similar environment.Why Amey?We're all originals here and our individuality is an asset.
