What You'll Do
As a Natural History Expert at Catawiki, with a specialty in taxidermy, you will play a pivotal role in evaluating and arranging the lots submitted by our users. Using your in-depth knowledge and broad network within the Natural History field, you will be responsible for curating and creating compelling lot listings weekly, making them highly appealing to our vast audience of collectors.
Catawiki aims to uphold a high standard of transparency and fairness in user transactions, and your expertise is critical in achieving this. With a keen eye for detail, you will review lot titles, descriptions, and images, providing users with reliable estimated values and professional advice. If an item doesn't meet our standards, you'll communicate this professionally and courteously.
We're looking for a well-rounded Natural History generalist with a passion for Taxidermy in particular based in the Netherlands, France, or Spain who can work effectively under pressure. You will represent Catawiki's commercial interests, strategically contributing to growing our platform while building relationships with sellers and buyers. Your role will require remote collaboration within our team, demanding strong communication and stakeholder management skills to keep all parties aligned and informed.
What You'll Bring
Full-time commitment and availability to join our expert team.
Expert knowledge in Natural History, particularly in taxidermy.
Basic to intermediate understanding of CITES, the EU Birds Directive, and general nature protection laws (we'll provide additional training).
A proactive attitude and the courage to try new approaches, adapt, and refine processes.
Proven commercial experience with a talent for maximising sales opportunities and engaging users.
Familiarity with auction strategy optimization, including reserve pricing, sell-through rate, and cash flow.
Strong analytical skills for monitoring auction performance, spotting trends, and guiding sellers.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to engage effectively with a remote team and represent Catawiki in all dealings.
Solid computer skills and proficiency with online sales platforms.
A reliable network of contacts, including dealers, collectors, curators, and experts within the Natural History and taxidermy communities.
A high level of professionalism and diplomacy when managing disputes or negotiations.
Fluent in English (additional language skills in Dutch, French, or Spanish are a plus).
Where You'll Be
As an integral part of our Natural History & Collectibles department, you'll preferably be based in the Netherlands, France, or Spain, with a flexible work-from-home arrangement that allows you to connect with a global team.

Our Offices and Way of Working
Our vibrant offices in Amsterdam, Paris and Lisbon are designed to inspire and connect. Most Catawikians are within commuting distance of one of our offices and enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work model. This means we typically ask you to be in the office 2 out of 5 days, roughly 40% of your working time, to collaborate and connect with your colleagues. Of course, if the job description specifies that the role is 100% remote—such as for certain expert or sales positions—then that arrangement will apply.
