Additional public holidays gazetted by TSIRCUniformsAbout this role:Divisional delivery of the Public Health Program within Council's Operation PlanMonitor, identify and provide appropriate response to environmental health issues within the communityProvide awareness and education of environmental health matters within the communityDevelop a co-operative working relationship with TSIRC staffBe responsible for and provide service to the public on environmental health and animal management matters within the communityLiaise with other stakeholders including community residents, local health worker professionals, veterinary services, other Environmental Health Workers (EHW), Rangers and Police.About you:Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including but not limited to Health Act, Food Act, Environmental Protection Act and local lawsUnderstanding of local laws, the relevant Acts pertaining to environmental health, and cultural protocols within communitiesPossess an unrestricted Class "C" Queensland Driver's LicenceDeveloped oral and written communication skills in negotiations, coordination, and problem-solvingGood organisational skillsReliable and be part of a teamCertificate III in Indigenous Environmental Health or Certificate III Animal Control and Regulation or equivalentA knowledge and understanding of languages specific to the Torres Strait including: Meriam Mer, Kala Lagaw Ya, and Creole would be highly desirableApplying:Candidates will need to download the Position Description and submit a cover letter and an updated resume with your location and address how your knowledge, skills, experience, qualifications, and personal attributes are most relevant to the position by Wednesday, 18th September 2024.If you think you meet most, but not all, of the criteria we encourage you to still put in an application or call to discuss.People from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, who may have questions or concerns about the recruitment process or working with Council are encouraged to reach out and will be put in contact with our People and Wellbeing Team.Contact Rowena Johnson, Coordinator Environmental Health on 0436 938 820
