The Environment Set Dressing department creates impressive environments with manual and procedural dressings. Using cutting-edge technology, the artists are responsible for distributing and growing assets and vegetation to fill the environment and improve the narrative context of the sequence. All content is gathered and optimized for each shot before delivering to Lighting and Compositing departments.
As a Lead, you will be responsible for guiding the artists in processes such as asset publication, location assembling process, set dressing per sequence, shot construction, optimization, rendering, publication and support.
Responsibilities Provides artistic feedback to their team in line with the Supervisor and Production Designer's guidance.
Builds outstanding complex locations with an optimal usage of assets and handles complex scenes, when required.
Improves shot framing per camera, showing strong image composition skills.
Leads the team providing them with support, guidance and instruction in areas that contribute towards their artistic and professional growth, making sure all the assets follow the quality standards and artistic direction and that deadlines are achieved.
Supports the Supervisors to ensure that all their team members have, and understand how to use, the techniques and methodologies required to deliver the department tasks for the project.
Delegates and assigns tasks to their artists according to their skills.
Follows the Supervisor's guidance.
Develops, tests and/or proposes technical improvements and solutions inside and outside the department, using their technical and artistic knowledge.
Debugs and troubleshoots their own scenes issues and helps other team members with the problems they encounter.
Keeps up on current technology trends and tools (hardware and software) that best suit the production and the company, in the development of a stronger creative technical environment.
Requirements 6 years of professional experience in VFX or animation industries.
At least 1 year of experience as a Lead in the animation industry.
Being self-sufficient working either for technical duties or artistic ones.
Make efficient use of assets in the construction of complex but feasible locations.
Have exceptional artistic knowledge and the ability to share it.
Experience with Houdini USD scattering system and procedural dressing.
Having knowledge of Z Brush is desirable.
Have exceptional technical knowledge and the ability to share it.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of other departments and functions as well as the feature animation pipeline.
Programming knowledge (Python, VEX) is desired, but not required.
Advanced English level.
Spanish oral and written, is desirable.
