About the team The Alpha team is responsible for keeping the cost of goods sold low and increasing the marginality of our products by improving the experience of the GIS/CAD and Ops managers' teams. Alpha is a mature team of five backend and full-stack engineers, a product manager, and a UI/UX designer. It develops and supports several web applications (TypeScript, React), backends (Python, aiohttp, Java), and various automation hosted in the AWS Cloud (EC2, Lambdas, managed Kubernetes). The team owns the company's comprehensive core processing technology stack, which includes photogrammetry, scalable raster processing, and 3D data analysis for construction use cases. We have a strong DevOps culture that allows us to develop and run 60+ components and microservices. During the year, we are highly involved in quarter planning, and during the quarter, we practice Agile with two-week sprints. The team is spread across Armenia and Georgia, with some members relocating to Valencia, Spain, in 2025. Responsibilities You will manage the team's budget and promotions, initiate new hiring when needed, and act as a hiring manager when hiring starts. When a person is hired, you will be responsible for his/her onboarding. People management: personal development, motivation, alignment with the current business directions. We expect you to conduct regular 1:1 meetings, set expectations, and track performance. You will also be responsible for staff termination, as well as both decision-making and execution. You will be expected to take ownership, improve and support the team's processes — planning, retrospective, backlog grooming, CI/CD procedures, releases, etc. Your role also assumes technical leadership, so you will actively participate in architecture design and code review sessions. You may implement coding tasks if necessary, but you should be able to do so. You will be accountable for the team's sustainability, predictability, gross product features delivered, and cycle time. You will be your team's go-to management resource for all non-standard projects. You will also be the default entry point for all non-standard incoming or outgoing requests between the Alpha team and any other teams (dev teams, product teams, design teams) or stakeholders
