The Role As a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for building and leading a cross-functional software development team with focus on new innovative software solutions. You will interact and collaborate with various Solera product management and engineering teams across multiple locations. You will serve as an engineering mentor and guide in the Solera Fleet Solutions product engineering organization, providing management expertise in managing and developing a talented engineering team. You will also help implement standard development processes and drive implementation of guidelines.
What you'll do Manage a cross-national team of engineers. Support the team and help develop career and development paths for the team.Communicate effectively both within the immediate team and leadership. Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy, and results.Support and implement organization's initiatives.Mentor junior resources and provide guidance ensuring all development standards and practices are adhered to.Pursue continuous improvement in development processes, standards, and quality.Coach, mentor and lead a diverse group of lean/agile software engineers.Work directly with stakeholders to understand business and technical needs.What you'll bring EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field
EXPERIENCE: 5+ years managing development teams. Hands-on experience with Agile (Scrum or XP) and test & behavior driven development, continuous integration, and version control.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Demonstrable experience in developing software applications.Related DevOps tools experience a plus (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Sonar, Jenkins etc).Experience in managing teams responsible for building scalable and highly available distributed systems.Strong problem-solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments.Experience in breaking down problems and estimating time for development tasks.
