The Engineering Excellence Executive Manager drives the Engineering Excellence which defines and maintains the AXA Engineering Standards aligned with other transversal initiatives and current market practices, in collaboration with the global and local Software Engineering Communities, CIOs, CTO/Chief Architects community & OpCo's engineering representatives. In parallel of establishing these standards, the role actively promotes collaborative models and leads Inner / Open Source initiatives across the group and engages with both internal and external communities of practice (CoP). This role drives also the implementation (walk the talk) of the Engineering Excellence by leading technological orientation,
declination on technical recruitments and staffing software engineers on products and platforms.
DETAILED ACTIVITIES Lead the AXA Engineering Standards delivery and its governance together with the AXA Software Engineering Communities and aligned with Group CIO – Technology Office. Keep and maintain these standards up-to-date and aligned to market trends.Align several stakeholders to define these standards and discuss/validate them with chief architects/CTOs, with relevant other parties (legal, security, ...) and with the engineers across the organisation.Evaluate the software engineering maturity level and define & iterate the future vision.Support development teams on the adoption of the defined guidelines & standards and raise their maturity on their weaker points.Direct supervision of software Engineers: Performance management, career development, education, and training.Keep teams focused on the right priorities to meet aggressive deadlines; clearly communicate project progress to the management and executive team.Identify the current issues for software engineers and software engineering in general and define how to solve or mitigate them.Identify local or global knowledge gaps and define training material, either internal or third-party, for software engineers to address these gaps.Ensure new software development activities are consistent with the defined guidelines and challenge activities not aligned with them.Include & maintain AXA Software Engineering Standards in an engineering governance body, either leveraging current technology governance bodies if applicable or creating a new one if required.Lead the AXA Open Source Program definition and governance. Identify projects to inner/open source across the organization and support their development teams to do so. Encourage collaborating models whenever makes sense and it is possible.Adopt a hands-on position when required to build technical demonstrations and examples and co-develop them with other engineers.
