Job Description: An opportunity for a Cost Engineer has arisen within Airbus Operations, Getafe (Madrid).
RESPONSIBILITIES The mission of our department is to assess the cost of future development projects.
Our cost assessment is directly used for the launch decision of new derivatives.
We are also providing cost information for technical trades' choices, and for procurement cost targets.
For the future, Costing customers are asking for more upfront cost support to decide the best "design to value" solution.
For these challenged missions, we need people able to associate wide technical knowledge with cost data.
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include: The analysis of spent actuals on previous development associated with the analysis of technical drivers.
The complete costing delivery of NRCs for assigned projects on time and with quality, providing visibility/explanation on relevant cost drivers; Presentation of results at various levels of the company.
Support the management of customer requests, clarifying needs and associated value, driving decision processes and providing early guidance to stakeholders to ensure highest value for Airbus.
Risks and opportunities analysis including the assessment of cost impact and probability to occur; Identification of cost saving ideas and cost challenge opportunities.
Support consolidation/technical negotiations with functions/suppliers to achieve the targeted costs.
Support the development, implementation, and documentation of costing models and references for development, design, test, and customization.
These models and references cover the whole product life cycle and will be used in both the early development phases as well as in supplier negotiations for fully defined work packages.
Provide guidance for Go / No Go decision making for DtC / DtV ideas at an early stage to eliminate non-viable ideas.
SKILLS Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline.
Ability to analyze data in different databases (technical and finance), in order to extract cost drivers and cost models.
Strong knowledge of aeronautical design and design processes.
Team player with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Good communication and presentation skills at all levels.
Strong ability to interact and influence.
Very good strategic and analytical skills including data analysis.
Basic experience in project management.
Language Skills: Fluent in French, Negotiation level of English.
