Job Description Summary
The Engagement Manager will lead the execution teams across multiple projects and will lead client engagements, including Business Development Activities in alignment with Principals, Partners, and the Managing Partner from the MAP Consulting Practice. In particular, while this candidate will be part of our Global MAP Consulting Practice, they will be highly integrated into our Iberia team within MAP and will be expected to drive and deliver projects focused on Spain and Portugal, as well as others.
THE ENGAGEMENT MANAGER ROLE The Engagement Manager will lead the execution teams across multiple projects and will lead client engagements, including Business Development Activities in alignment with Principals, Partners, and the Managing Partner from the MAP Consulting Practice.
The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills. They should possess sufficient technical skills to own and independently execute full projects and proposals.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES Project Execution/ Billability (~65%):
Uses their in-depth understanding of the life sciences and healthcare industry and broad knowledge of related consulting methodologies to deliver gold-standard consulting expertise to our clients.
Independently leads and manages execution teams and delivers multiple complex projects simultaneously with minimal or no guidance and/or supervision.
Guide teams in prioritizing critical client issues to translate them into actionable client focus solutions and strategies.
Support and lead teams in client interactions.
Ensures that client deliverables are of the highest standards and quality, that they reflect accurate and up-to-date information, and are executed and delivered in a timely fashion.
Understands and anticipates potential issues and/or challenges deriving from the initial 'problem' and able to communicate this effectively to the project team and other senior advisors.
Nurtures and encourages teams to consider out-of-the-box solutions to address client issues.
Provide oversight and direction to staff aligned with the organization's policies / procedures, vision, mission statement, and values.
Business Development/ Corporate Initiatives (~25%):
Actively engages in the full business development (BD) effort, from lead generation, to pitching, and to closing.
Supports Principals and Partners and other senior leaders in developing and delivering successful proposals, pitches, and capability presentations.
Leverages extensive healthcare and business knowledge and experience in BD calls and during client conversations to open new opportunities.
Develops and nurtures client relationships, including thought leadership initiatives.
Builds Alira Health's presence and reputation as trusted advisor in life sciences consulting by attending conferences, meetings, and other events.
Thought Leadership (~10%):
Actively collaborate to the development and fine-tuning of the services and activities offered by MAP.
Working together with other thought leaders and in coordination with marketing teams, contribute to the creation of publications, position papers, and white literature.
Working in Task Forces or other internal teams, actively contribute to the improvement and efficiency of internal processes and procedures.
Proactively mentor, coach, and share expertise with others to grow the collective Alira Health knowledge and ability to deliver differential solutions to clients.
Supports firm development activities by contributing to recruiting, knowledge management, technology systems, and related functions.
DESIRED QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE 6+ years of professional experience in management consulting, private equity, Life Sciences companies, Pharma, or health technology assessment (HTA) agencies.
Graduate degree with an excellent track record in either Life Sciences, Business, Economics, or Engineering programs. Advanced degrees: PhD, specialized Masters in Life Sciences, MBAs, or similar degrees, will be considered a plus.
Extensive experience managing Iberia Market Access and Pricing projects.
Experience in efficiently managing large multidisciplinary teams.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCES & SOFT SKILLS Ability to understand and clearly convey complex data to extract client relevant information for decision making.
Strong ability to multi-task and accommodate changing priorities with a positive and "can-do" attitude, while delivering high quality during tight timelines.
Strong analytical skills and ability to problem-solve unstructured or ambiguous challenges.
Proven project management skills, including client's interaction, full execution of deliverables, clear communication and negotiation skills.
Excellent communication, being able to sell ideas effectively to internal and external stakeholders, and interpersonal skills, working in a multicultural environment.
Ability to coach and develop staff, including goal setting, feedback, and performance development.
Self-starter who thrives in a less structured, collaborative environment and enjoys working in cross-functional teams.
Spanish and Portuguese, both written and verbal, is a must. Excellent English skills are also a priority. Other languages can be a plus.
Advanced skills in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel).
