ABOUT THE ROLE The resource efficiency manager is a critical role at Data4 to ensure leading practices in terms of environmental impact and sustainability across all sites. To ensure future datacenters growth, it is critical to demonstrate an excellent track record and very high engagement to reduce resource usage while keeping customer service quality. The Energy Efficiency Manager, Global is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to optimize resource usage, enhance energy efficiency, and reduce environmental footprint across Data4 data centers in Europe. This role requires a deep understanding of sustainable practices, technological advancements, and industry trends.
Within the DC operations department, the Energy Efficiency Manager defines Data4 efficiency initiatives regarding the use of electricity, water, refrigerant gases, and other related resources. They drive the execution of the approved initiatives in partnership with the local data center operations teams through project sponsoring or occasionally direct project management. They ensure consistent approaches including processes and tools across all sites and will encourage best practices sharing across countries. They consolidate program results and measure achievements against objectives.
They also report resource efficiency initiatives to global customers, regulatory bodies, and investors, leveraging digital tools to ensure quality and standardized reporting. They ensure that Data4 operational practices comply with upcoming regulations such as the European Energy Efficiency Directive; in order to ensure full compliance, the Energy Efficiency Manager, Global carries out gap analysis, builds improvement plans, and engages with authorities on norms or directives improvements.
They act as subject matter expert (SME) on energy management certification like ISO 50001 or other similar norms. They propagate the Data4 resource efficiency culture across all stakeholders internally and advocate for it in external ecosystems.
