About the role Our Energy unit is recruiting an Energy & Decarbonisation Consultant to work within our Energy Advisory business line. The Consultant will support clients with developing their integrated energy systems services, including strategic planning, project management, and techno-commercial engineering.
This includes but is not limited to energy/battery storage (grid scale), decarbonisation of energy (hybrid systems), green hydrogen, demand side (large energy users), electric vehicle integration, microgrids/smart grids. The role will be based within Mott MacDonald's Energy unit and will involve working with specialists in Mott MacDonald's transport, built environment, and climate change practices. The role can be based in the UK or in Europe (Belgrade, Sofia, Madrid Offices).
Main duties: Managing the delivery of projects, ensuring adherence to our quality assurance system.
Providing input including in-depth research, analysis, evaluations, and assessments.
Preparation of reports and deliverables, including presentations to senior client contacts on the outcomes of the work.
Involvement in proposals and supporting submissions for new opportunities.
Collaboration with colleagues across the wider Group and with third parties.
Supervision and mentoring of junior staff.
About you: The successful applicant will have the following attributes:
Degree-qualified in an Engineering discipline, preferably Power or Electrical Engineering, with post-graduate experience in the industry.
Strong working knowledge of energy systems or related specialism such as transmission and distribution networks, renewable/hybrid systems, energy storage systems, GHG emissions.
Demonstrable interest in energy transition driving decarbonisation.
Self-motivated and diligent, with ability to meet tight deadlines on simultaneous assignments.
Sharp analytical skills and ability to present quantitative knowledge to non-experts.
Attentive to detail, an active listener, with a strong aptitude for the wider picture.
Excellent written and verbal communication (English).
Prepared to travel, sometimes at short notice, as required by projects and new business opportunities.
Desired competencies / skills: Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
Techno-economic modelling skills.
Appreciation of energy project risks and mitigation strategies.
Appreciation of commercial sphere of project work including contract terms.
Project management experience.
