The Energy and Construction Underwriter will be responsible for:Developing and expanding new business opportunitiesAnalyzing exposures according to BHSI's risk quality and confidence frameworkNegotiating fair insurance conditions and deploying necessary capacity for all types of construction projectsHandling operational programs in the power generation, oil & gas, mining, and chemical segmentsA good understanding of engineering concepts, risk management capabilities, and strong business acumen is necessary to achieve our team objective of being a reputable Energy and Construction team with an outperforming combined ratio. We are seeking an individual with a solid background in underwriting Energy and Construction business, who strives for excellence in every area–from analyzing risks to delivering customer and broker service.You should be comfortable working closely with the Claims team, underwriters, and Risk Control engineers from across the broader team. Good data and file management skills are required. In addition, necessary character, relationship building, and negotiating skills to help lead and further build a profitable book of business are of the upmost importance.The successful candidate will be focused on a positive customer experience while maintaining sound underwriting discipline.
