The Role
Do you have solid technical skills and a strong interest in European and international energy policy, with a special focus on the power sector and electricity markets?
We are looking for a self-driven, motivated Energy Analyst to join our office in Athens and work alongside our energy system modelling team on high-standing consulting projects for international organisations, national governments, and the private sector.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will perform quantitative research to support various activities of the modelling suite with a focus on the power sector and electricity market. More specifically, the successful candidate will:
Operate, maintain, and further develop the power sector and electricity market model and other simulation tools.
Collect, structure, maintain, and analyse large datasets with relevance for power sector and electricity markets.
Draft reports, short papers, or presentations on the power sector based on model results.
Skills and Behaviours
Hold a BSc and/or MSc or PhD degree in engineering, economics, applied mathematics, physics, or other relevant disciplines.
Deep knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity markets and mathematical optimization techniques.
Demonstrated data management skills, including the ability to use programming tools, preferably GAMS, Python, or R for modelling.
Experience in the power sector.
Have a detail-oriented and problem-solving mindset, collaborative attitude, and willingness to learn.
Be proficient in English (verbal and written).
Be an excellent user of MS Office.
Proven writing skills gained through (co-) authorship of academic articles, technical and/or policy reports in English is an asset.
