Summary
You will serve as a Electronics Technician (MK-41 VLS) in the Engineering Department of FWD DEPLOYED REG MAINT CTR DET ROTA ROTA, SPAIN.
Responsibilities
You will be the subject matter expert in the MK-41 Vertical Launching System (VLS) and associated support systems onboard afloat units. You will provide technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports (CASREPS) or requests for technical assistance affecting assigned subsystems. You will serve as team leader of organized teams composed of not fewer than five General Schedule technicians, Sailors, or contractor equivalents. You will provide technical assistance on complex technical problems beyond the capability of forces afloat, intermediate maintenance activities, or repair activities to diagnose and correct. You will provide authoritative technical/engineering guidance to Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA).
Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience may include:
Overseeing and providing repairs and inspections of MK-41 Vertical Launching Systems (VLS) onboard U.S. Naval ShipsReview, inspect and evaluate Naval Ship emergent Casualty Repair (CASREPs) to provide combat readiness to the fleet and mission.Process Casualty Reports and perform assessments and tests to maintain missile systems, modern shipboard systems and MK-41 VLS subsystemsTroubleshooting and repairing ordnance handling equipment, weapons magazine reporting circuitry and sensors for forces afloat.NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position.

Additional Information
This position is a Mission Essential Position. A position may be designated as mission essential, consistent with the criteria described in DoD Instruction (DoDI) 3020.42. This position requires that the incumbent obtain and maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification via command sponsored CPR training and annual refresher training which is offered during working hours. This position requires the incumbent to perform temporary duty travel (approximately 25%) which may be on short notice and/or for extended periods of time.
Physical Demands
Approximately 20% of the work is performed in an office setting. The shipboard investigation phase of a task involves considerable walking, climbing and crawling in and around the equipment/system with marginal accessibility being a frequent problem. Standing for several hours at a time on hard steel decks also occurs regularly during ship visits.
Work Environment
The work regularly involves frequent exposure to hazardous conditions such as: high electrical voltages; large rotating machinery elements; electromagnetic radiation from high powered transmitters; nuclear radiation in and around machinery spaces aboard nuclear powered ships; explosive, flammable or incendiary materials.
This position has been identified as one in which shift hours may be changed without three days advance notice and for periods of less than three weeks.
