It's an opportunity to be part of something special.About the roleAs an EHS Specialist, you will be responsible for establishing, implementing, managing, and continuously improving the environment, health, and safety programs for the facility. This specialist will have broad knowledge of EHS compliance programs and EHS specialty areas including Industrial Safety, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, and Risk Management.As Environmental Professional, this individual will be responsible for the implementation of Haleon's Environmental strategic objectives & targets and the management of related Environmental programs.The EHS Specialist Environmental Role will provide guidance in managing budgets to support outside services and operating expenses. The role includes strategic EHS planning as well as a tactical role for site wide EHS systems, EHS regulations, and best practices.There is also a need for this person to have understanding and knowledge to lead and support Safety at the site as it relates to key areas such as confined space, process safety, machinery safety, electrical and utilities safety, injury and illness prevention, incident investigation (RCA), risk assessments, regulatory compliance, internal auditing, EHS training, and behavioral safety.Key responsibilities:Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations as they apply to the protection of the environment including all company assets.Establish programmes to identify, assess and control environmental exposure risks to air, water, soil, and waste as it pertains to the site.Develop strategies and programmes to manage exposures and control environmental hazards to meet applicable regulations and company standards.Help create a work environment where effective controls are in place to maintain compliance with environmental standards.Complete all required Environmental Regulatory and Haleon reporting requirements on time and follow-up immediately regarding any gaps in compliance.Develop and monitor a compliance calendar system which will ensure that all required environmental reporting requirements are submitted on time.Manage the site's compliance in handling and disposal of hazardous and infectious waste.Coordinate compliance with environmental regulations including liaison with regulatory agencies and inspectors.Review and track investigations of injuries, illnesses, environmental releases, non-injury accidents and near-misses to ensure that they are effective, and that they identify and resolve root causes. Lead investigations into serious adverse events.Carry out regular workplace inspections and audits to monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and company and site policies, standards, and procedures.Coordinate the completion of job safety analyses and risk assessments.Establish site EHS policies, objectives, key performance indicators and targets that reflect local needs and alignment with Haleon's short and long term EHS strategy. Ensure local EHS SOPs effectively comply with Haleon's overall EHS management system.Design, conduct and oversee EH&S training. Monitor and analyze EHS performance and initiate action to support or correct trends.Establish programs to manage the site's different EHS risks and impacts, coordinated within an overall EHS management system. Review change proposals (including capital projects and new product introductions) to identify potential EHS issues and participate in their resolution.Work collaboratively with colleagues at other Haleon sites in North America and around the world to ensure that EHS best practices and lessons from adverse events are shared effectively.Qualifications and skills:Bachelor's degree in related discipline (e.g. environmental engineering, environmental sciences, Engineering, General Sciences).Experience in managing Environmental risks in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), Pharmaceutical or related high-hazard sector.Master's degree in occupational risk prevention.Fluent in Spanish and English.At least 4 years' experience in the Environmental Field.Knowledge in the use of Environmental tracking databases.Good relationship building and networking, to engage effectively with site personnel, senior management, EHS and Regional leads.Preferred:Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)Registered Environmental Manager (REM)Diversity, Equity and InclusionAt Haleon we embrace our diverse workforce by creating an inclusive environment that celebrates our unique perspectives, generates curiosity to create unmatched understanding of each other, and promotes fair and equitable outcomes for everyone.We believe in an agile working culture for all our roles.
