Position Job Title: Business Unit Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager Snacks & Confectionary AFEMEA Function: Operations Location: Open Location in any country where AFEMEA has operations Line Manager's Job Title: AFEMEA EHS Director Job Purpose The Snacks & Confectionary BU Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve Amcor Flexibles European Region safety and Environment performance, compliance with Amcor Limited standards and other regulatory requirements.
The role also carries responsibility for identification, implementation and monitoring of Global EHS initiatives including strict adherence to management of change processes.
Job Dimensions, Scope & Career Perspective The nature of the role involves providing leadership and direction in the management of safety and environmental matters, to ensure delivery of the key safety goals for Amcor.
Although essentially an advisory role (with no direct reports and safety at all times the responsibility of line management), the position holder must be highly influential and have the managerial courage when necessary to assert themselves and drive safety as a number one priority in the business.
The scope of the role includes all co-workers, contractors and visitors working on the Snacks & Confectionary BU EMEA business, and all operational activities associated with the management of the Snacks & Confectionary plants in close co-operation with the BU management.
The Snacks & Confectionary business employs people at 8 locations in Europe.
The post holder is a member of the EMEA EHS team and has a collaborative relationship with colleagues at this level.
As the Amcor business keeps developing, it is expected that the responsibilities of the position holder will potentially grow to include other manufacturing sites and standalone office locations.
Relationships: Internal Global operations European operations Plant Management team (GM's, EHS Managers) External Regulatory bodies Principal Accountabilities Dotted line reporting of site EHS Managers (8 European manufacturing locations in 5 countries) Provide leadership and direction to teams involved in EHS process development and execution, with a specific initial focus on safety across all manufacturing sites in the European region Champion and support of AFEMEA objectives for an injury and fire free culture Work with plant operational managers, ensure that operational activities are clearly identified and risks assessed to ensure that safe working procedures are developed and implemented Ensure for the continuous development of safety policies and procedures, as well as effective implementation of these policies, and ongoing continuous improvement practices Work jointly and collaboratively with operations across all plant locations to enable them to successfully and proactively execute their responsibilities for EHS Serve as a subject matter expert that drives metrics related to safety and environmental and serve as a conduit for best practice sharing MAJOR CHALLENGES AND COMPLEXITIES Onboarding new Plants and establishing a roadmap for them to EHS Excellence.
Bringing lower performing Plants up to world class EHS standards with action plans and measurable objectives.
Controlling and reducing risks associated with fires and ignitions across business unit.
Subject matter expert in one or more of the following areas is an advantage; Machine safety, fire prevention, process safety management, Environmental, root cause analysis, crisis prevention and management QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Formal Qualifications and Experience Ideally a degree level qualification (Engineering, Science or Operations based) or equivalent experience through practical work in industrial environment.
In particular, ideally 7 to 10 years' minimum experience in production environment with diverse technologies.
Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role with direct report responsibility Experience in CI tool box and methodology preferred Education in safety and environment is preferable.
Language skills appreciated 2.
Specific Skills and Abilities Proactive, positive leadership and people skills to ensure alignment with safety culture throughout organization Assertive problem-solver; able to identify gaps and define implementable solutions that advance with the safety program and culture Strong verbal and written communication skills and effective presentation style An ability to motivate co-workers in EHS performance.
Key skills and experience in EHS are essential.
A liking for Quality Improvement and Continuous Improvement is sub serving.
