Job Description: UX Designer, Marketing Experiences

We are looking for a UX Designer, Marketing Experiences to work with the UX Design team, supporting the Product Marketing roadmap. In this role, you will create experiences that engage and appeal to customers, enhancing our usability and improving the user experience through the use of imagery, color, shapes, typography, and form, ensuring our experiences appear trustworthy, informative and true to our brand. The ideal candidate should have a passion for user-centric design and the tools and processes that make it happen.
Your expertise should bring an understanding of component-based design and design systems to contribute to a scalable, sustainable approach that enables speed to market, evolution, and optimization. This will be a highly collaborative role requiring partnerships with SMEs, Marketing, Editorial, UX Architecture, Technology, Research, and Product. The UX Designer, Marketing Experiences will report to the Experience Design Director, WSJ. This role is based in Barcelona and requires 3 days in the office, as per our current mandate which may change in the future.
Responsibilities: Bring industry best practices and visual design principles to your solutions. Create solutions that meet both customer needs and business objectives. Collaborate with UX Architects on optimizing the user flow and overall experience. Create visual concepts that communicate the overall vision and approach for a project, developing the overall look and feel and delivering final designs. Optimize experiences by strategically implementing images, colors, fonts, and other elements in order to enhance a design or interaction, and engage users. Contribute to the creation of visual patterns in our design system. Maintain brand consistency while designing new products and experiences. Explore and validate solutions by creating prototypes for and actively participating in user testing. Incorporate recommendations and analysis from our Customer Insights team. Coordinate on ensuring we meet requirements for accessibility. Independently deliver on projects and work with others on teams. Serve as an advocate for our readers, keeping their needs at the heart of our digital solutions. Required Skill Set: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 1-3 years experience in a similar role. Strong grasp of UI, HCI and UX principles. Understanding of best practices for mobile, web-based and responsive design. Understanding of design, typography, and image creation. Experience working with Design Systems, in creating and reusing components. Experience creating marketing materials including collateral, social media assets, landing pages. Experience working in an Agile environment. Proficiency with G-suite products and ideally experience with professional collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence and Airtable. Expertise with Figma, Miro, Adobe CC including Photoshop, Illustrator and other prototyping and design tools. A portfolio that demonstrates your experience and UX skills, illustrating step by step solutions for features with a strong user-centered approach. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Plus: Experience in the design of News or Financial Services. Experience in Adobe After Effects and/or motion graphics. Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and compliance.
