The role
We are seeking a motivated Operations Technician to coordinate and ensure that all operational services run smoothly and meet high-quality standards. The new team member will work closely with the EGA Team Head and a diverse group of professionals, including system administrators, developers, data curators, project managers, and helpdesk staff, in close collaboration with the European Bioinformatics Institute to coordinate Helpdesk activities, the development of core services, and operations with our closer partners and relevant competitive projects. By working across various functions, the candidate will help guarantee that the EGA offers the best service to the global research community. Additionally, the Operations Technician will contribute to competitive projects in cases where the EGA Service is participating as a service provider, ensuring that our involvement is well-coordinated, timely, and impactful.
The successful candidate will provide oversight and planning for the EGA helpdesk and operations team. This includes coordinating day-to-day priorities, identifying training needs, ensuring a consistently high-quality customer experience, and ensuring continuity of helpdesk and operations service. The EGA team is managed using agile methodologies, combining a mix of the RT ticketing system, JIRA, and Confluence in a collaborative environment. The EGA is currently transitioning from being a centralized to a federated resource, which will require new practices and guidelines to be drafted as new nodes become operational.
