I. Position Summary World Monuments Fund (WMF) seeks a qualified professional for the role of Director, Special Events. This individual is a key member of the Development team, overseeing the organization's fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events while playing a critical role in WMF's 60th Anniversary Celebrations. Reporting to the Vice President of Development and Partnerships, this individual is responsible for successfully planning and executing WMF's annual Hadrian Gala, which raises more than $2M annually in support of the organization's general operations. In addition, the Director, Special Events will help develop and successfully implement at least (6) marquee dinners across the world in collaboration with WMF's affiliate offices and any consultants hired to assist with the planning and implementation. The Director will also work closely with the Senior Director, Institutional Giving in the creation and solicitation of corporate sponsorships. The ideal candidate is a team player who is flexible, positive, and creative. They will have a passion for communicating the organization's mission through engaging events while supporting the stewardship of WMF's donors.
This is a full-time, exempt position based at WMF's global headquarters in New York.

II. Responsibilities  Oversee planning and implementation of WMF's annual gala (Hadrian Gala) to raise in excess of $2M through table/ticket purchases, donations, and a live auction.
Oversee the planning and implementation of the 2025 60th Anniversary celebrations, which include at least 6 marquee dinners and more than of more than 50 cultivation events across the world in coordination with WMF's affiliate offices and consultants; secure corporate sponsorships for marquee dinners; coordinate with Communications team on press and social media activations.
Support the Development team in the execution of cultivation and stewardship events throughout the year to ensure all event materials and communications are streamlined and coordinated.
Manage on-site support and logistics for events including liaising with on-site staff and vendors to deliver the highest level of service and event execution (set-up and break-down, seating, table arrangements, check-in, vendor relations, printed and digital signage, place cards/name tags, etc.).
Collaborate across departments to ensure event content and execution aligns with all other organizational priorities.
Oversee event financial records for the events team including regular reporting and reconciling with finance, close management of event budgets, post-event summaries/analyses, and overall impact and engagement.
Work closely with the Communications team to leverage the Hadrian Gala, anniversary dinners, and all other events to expand press and social media reach.
III. Qualifications 7+ years of Development experience including 4+ years of special events experience, preferably in non-profits.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Excellent computer skills, including a thorough knowledge of Excel, and Microsoft Teams; knowledge of Raiser's Edge NXT or similar CRM management systems.
Ability to work at special events taking place in the evening and on weekends. Domestic and international travel, as needed.
Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to act diplomatically on behalf of the organization, as well as develop and maintain excellent relationships with donors, including board of trustee members and event chairs.
Creative, responsible, and entrepreneurial, with the ability to execute high quality special events that meet or exceed revenue goals.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with remote teams in a number of different time zones.
Superior attention to detail including exceptional copyediting and writing skills, as well as verbal presentation skills.
Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Self-motivated with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation and Benefits The World Monuments Fund offers a comprehensive and highly competitive compensation and benefits package, including paid time off, wellness and sick time off, holiday time off, and a multitude of other insurance benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a fully comprehensive retirement plan.
The salary range for this position will be within the $115,000 to $125,000 range annually, based on commensurate experience.
