ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Director, Publisher Relations - Spain oversees publisher relationships, negotiations, and catalogue performance for our audiobook vendors in Spain and other existing and new marketplaces.
In this role, you will lead regional teams in managing publisher relationships, negotiating deal terms, and driving agreements for audiobook vendors across different markets, to help deliver the leading spoken word catalogue for our audience in the respective marketplaces. Publisher relationships will be cultivated in close coordination with our global and European content teams. In this position, you will be the main point of contact for collaborations between Spain and the LATAM region. In addition to your responsibilities for the Spanish marketplace, you will play a crucial role in fostering cross-collaboration and leveraging synergies for other marketplaces, such as the LATAM region. Through knowledge-sharing, identifying collaboration areas, and streamlining processes, you will create a cohesive and unified global approach, unlocking new opportunities through shared expertise.

Your expertise lies in guiding deals from start to finish, coupled with a legal background that makes you adept at navigating IP rights and crafting innovative agreements. You will influence and maintain our relationships with publishing partners by impacting and making business decisions, leading a team and undertaking creative solution finding.
As a Director, Publisher Relations - Spain, you will:
Manage a team of Publisher Relation managers and coordinators to assure excellence in deal-terms, informed editorial taste, and negotiation success for publishers in Spain.
Identify and investigate new partnership opportunities in light of strategic goals and develop unique and ambitious deal structures to meet those goals and grow Audible's content offerings.
Maintain and develop strong and productive strategic and day-to-day relations with all our publishing partners while also cooperating with cross-functional teams.
Serve as the team's subject matter expert on intellectual property licensing with publishers.
Leverage analysis of key business drivers, trends and performance indicators (customer segmentation, marketplace research, competitive analysis, publisher programs, etc.) to improve the quality and quantity of our catalogues by ever improving relationships to our publishing partners.
Create written reports and presentation materials for executives which communicate financial analysis, strategic perspective, and drive toward a recommendation.
Act as the primary liaison between the Europe and LATAM regional team.
Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to develop deal strategy, formulate key terms including all related analysis, strategizing and planning for a variety of complex agreements and negotiations with global publishing vendors.
Communicate deal proposals and deal results through written reports and presentations.
Travel as required.

Minimum Requirements:
Law Degree (LLB level).
10+ years of relevant experience in international intellectual property rights licensing businesses (preferable from the book, television, film or computer game industry) to create cutting edge agreements where there is no precedent.
Experience conducting complex, high profile negotiations that rely on economic understanding and human interaction to achieve the goals of the company.
People management experience in cross-functional teams.
Negotiation experience in Spanish, Portuguese, in addition to English.
Experience leading deals and partnerships across Latin America, Brazil or the Hispanic European markets.
Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level.
Additional Skills:
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Highly collaborative with teams and individuals across the institution, experience in working in matrix environments.
A well-developed network into key partners in the European book publisher and agent landscape as well as a track record of gaining the trust and respect of others to lead teams in transformational, high-growth and customer-centric environments.
Proactive attitude with excellent project management, organizational, and analytical skills.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
