The Position Reporting to the Dean of Counseling, the Director will provide overall leadership and coordination for planning, managing, and supervising staff, programs, budgets, and services provided by the Disability Resource and Personal Counseling Centers.
Although it is not a primary responsibility, staffing limitations require the Director to counsel students with disabilities as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities Provide day-to-day coordination of the Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) program, and related college activities affecting students with disabilities.
Provide day-to-day coordination of the Personal Counseling Center.
Plan, provide leadership for, organize, and direct the development and review of division curriculum for students with disabilities.
Provide information and various resources about programs, courses, and services under the areas of supervision.
Supervise a diverse staff assigned to the programs.
Develop and manage the program budgets, ensuring compliance with expenditure guidelines.
Prepare and implement all DSPS planning documents with identified program objectives.
Advocate with the College's faculty and administration on behalf of students with disabilities.
Ensure District compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding student access.
Collaborate with both instructional and counseling faculty and staff to maximize student success.
Participate in outreach activities both on and off campus.
Assist students with disabilities in utilizing community resources.
Participate in the accreditation process.
Minimum Qualifications Master's degree or above in rehabilitation counseling or related fields, and specific experience related to people with disabilities.
Two years of full-time experience in one or more relevant fields.
Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of budget planning and assessment.
Demonstrated skill in planning and evaluating academic programs.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Experience in supervising a diverse staff.
