The Director of Strategic Planning reports to the Corporate Strategy Director for Telefonica Group, who reports to the Chief Strategy and Development Officer, under the Chairman and CEO of Telefonica.
This is an ExCom -2 role. Strategic Planning is a key function in defining the company's strategy.
The role requires close collaboration with Finance, as a co-responsible area for the Strategic Plan, and involves interacting with dozens of people from Headquarter, global units and operating business, to develop an integrated and consistent strategy. Main responsibilities of the role:Responsible for defining and articulating Telefónica's Strategic Framework and Company Program.Lead the development and articulation of the company's strategic framework and company program, which sets the strategic direction for Telefónica and is updated every three years.Define and coordinate the strategic agenda for the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors, ensuring that discussions remain aligned with the company's overall strategic direction.Co-lead the Strategic Planning Process, working closely with finance, global units, and operating business, to ensure strategic alignment across the group.Define and lead the strategic planning process (together with Finance), orchestrating key stakeholders across the different phases of the plan.Synthesize the Group's 3-year strategic plan presentation for Executive Committee and Board of Directors approval, encompassing market outlook, internal analysis, strategic aspirations, priorities, and KPI.Boost and ensure the execution of key strategic initiatives.Define and lead a follow-up process to monitor progress, identify challenges, and proactively propose initiatives to ensure the achievement of the company's strategic and financial objectives.Play a key role in coordinating diverse stakeholders involved in cross-functional initiatives, fostering collaboration, identifying common ground, and ensuring alignment with the company's strategic direction.Role requirements:Experience in managing complex processes: skilled in navigating complex processes involving numerous senior stakeholders and tight deadlines, ensuring seamless execution and alignment, with ability to co-create and build consensus.Results-oriented and proactive: Strong focus on achieving impact, with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and driving initiatives forward.Proven leadership and management skills: Demonstrated expertise in leading high-performance teams, crafting compelling presentations for the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, and effectively engaging with top management.Exceptional communication and persuasion skills: Clear and assertive in presenting ideas, with the ability to effectively influence and align diverse audiences.Highly analytical and problem-solving mindset: Expertise in structuring and resolving complex numerical and logical challenges, with strong capabilities in financial modeling, valuation, and data analysis.Comprehensive knowledge of the Telco Sector: In-depth understanding of the telecommunications and ICT sectors, including commercial, network, digital transformation, talent management, and regulatory frameworks.International perspective on the industry: Broad vision of the global telecommunications sector, including key players, competitive landscapes, and emerging trends, ensuring strategic decisions are informed by an international context.Desirable knowledge of emerging technologies and business models: Familiarity with transformative technologies, such as new connectivity solutions, network virtualization and automation/APIs, and Artificial Intelligence, as well as innovative business models.Full professional capability in English and Spanish. German and/or Portuguese are a plus.+ 15 years of experience leading high-performance teams in strategy and/or management consulting areas.
