About The Role
We have an exciting role for a Director of Platform Engineering, who will have the overall responsibility of the design and development of all cloud and data centre architectures as required for the business. The position will contribute expertise, embrace emerging trends and provide overall guidance on best practices across all of News Corp's business and technology groups. This role reports to the VP of Infrastructure Engineering within the Global Platform Engineering team.
Required Experience:
Deep and proven experience running teams with engineering best practices to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Deep understanding of security requirements related to specific regulations and standards.
Programme and project management experience.
Leadership skills to drive global initiatives.
Deep understanding of the agile process and the proven ability to run scrum teams.
Required Technical Experience:
Experience with administering large-scale environments for the enterprise.
Experience with core AWS Cloud services, including VPC, TGW, A|E|NLB, IAM, KMS, EC2, Config, CloudTrail, CloudFormation, Lambda, and others.
Experience with data centre technologies such as Dell, HP rack and blade systems.
Experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMware VMC/vSphere and ESX.
Experience with core Google Cloud services, including Compute, IAM, VPC, Cloud Run, and GKE.
Experience working with container and serverless technology.
Experience with monitoring, logging and management tools such as Cloudwatch, Splunk, SumoLogic, StackDriver and New Relic.
Experience with SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis).
Experience working with Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence.
Experience in managing code within the SDLC methodology.
A firm understanding of code source control concepts, in particular using GIT repository.
Proven ability to write both customer-facing and technical documentation.
Proven ability to write user stories.
Experience in cloud-based security vulnerability identification and remediation.
Required Soft Skills:
The ability to drive creativity through your teams to find the no-obvious solution to a given problem.
The ability to facilitate constructive discussions and mediate between both internal and external stakeholders.
