.Job DescriptionThe Director & GM leads the vision, strategy, and execution for growth and profitability for the renewable energy and software business by providing direction to a high performing global leadership team focusing on Independent Engineering, Technical Advisory, and Software. The Director is expected to achieve a high rate of revenue growth (20-40% YoY) and strong profitability, while taking care to protect UL's brand reputation as a leading quality provider of renewable energy services.ResponsibilitiesEstablish and communicate the overall business strategy for the business, consistent with Renewables segment mission, goals, and strategy.Responsible for global profit & loss for the Renewables segment.Establish revenue goals, staffing requirements, and budgets, in conjunction with Renewables Segment and Service Area leads.Manage costs to budget and identify and exploit potential cost savings and efficiency improvements.Ensure revenue goals are met, in conjunction with commercial and operational leaders.Analyze and track financial performance against revenue and profit targets. Identify and recommend remedial actions where necessary. Select subcontractors as needed.Lead business development, including identifying and developing new customers, defining and championing new services, and identifying opportunities for acquisition. Provide market insights and intelligence.Work with executive leadership and other cross-functional leaders on the strategy development and execution matters related to the success of the business segment.Coordinate across other business segments, functions and regions to ensure profitable growth.Lead, empower, and enable Service Area teams to succeed in meeting established revenue and profit goals. Oversee staff assigned to the business including business development, sales, and other functional staff (F&A, IT, HR, etc.) to support Service Areas and achieve revenue goals and efficient and effective operations.Prepare and execute staffing plans and conduct regular employee evaluations. Fill open positions. Support Service Area leads in managing technical staff to a high level of performance.Ensure good communication and consistency with company policies and best practices in all aspects of the operation. Provide leadership and guidance to all employees to ensure a high level of customer and employee satisfaction and profitable business performance.Build a strong and internationally capable management team, including developing bench strength for long term succession planning focusing on the internal development of high potential employees wherever possible.Represent company at tradeshows, technical conferences and workshops, and business development meetings, as needed.Attend leadership meetings, present business plans, strategy, results and reports.Requires frequent travel to customers, regional offices and business development opportunities (30% - 40% travel).Assist with other duties as assigned
