We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Modeler with a strong background in Commercial and Finance within the biopharmaceutical industry whose passion is understanding how to best manage healthcare data to drive business innovation.
This individual will play a critical role in the success of the Alexion organization. S/he will be a highly visible IT leader with an interface to all levels of Alexion leadership. S/he will partner cross-functionally to proactively identify opportunities and to enable better decision making at Alexion.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing data models, ensuring the availability of high-quality data for analysis and decision-making. Additionally, this role will involve aspects of information architecture to ensure that the data models align with the overall information strategy and architecture within the organization.

You will be responsible for: Collaborate with global, cross-functional teams to understand the data requirements of Commercial and Finance departments and ensure alignment with the overall information architectureModel, design, and implement architectural strategies to meet stated requirements for metadata management, operational data stores and Extract Transform Load (ETL) environmentsDesign, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models to support Commercial and Finance business groups - including sales, marketing, medical, patient support programs, market access and financeImplement best practices for data modeling, data governance, and metadata model to deliver FAIR data to support self-service business analysis capabilities and support Alexion's mission of using data as a product.Lead efforts to optimize and streamline data models to improve data accessibility, performance, and scalability within the context of the broader information architecture strategyEducate executive, business and IT team members about the business value of FAIR data and data management capabilities. Lead conversations about functional data structures to support business decision making, translating business requirements into actionable plans for development teamsCollaborate with leadership and within IT to support cross-functional strategies and tactics using data, which contribute directly to the growth and optimization of Alexion's businessYou will need to have: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline is preferred.Minimum of 8 years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, data access and discovery frameworksKnowledge of taxonomies, ontologies and semantic standards for data integrationHighly motivated self-starter who can work in matrix environment with the confidence and ability to present complex information concisely and effectively to all audiences, including senior leaders and groupsExperience designing models to consolidate and analyse structured and unstructured data, from diverse sources including "big data" sourcesExpertise in data modeling tools, such as Snowflake, IDERA/ERwin, ER/Studio, or similar, with an understanding of how they fit into the broader information architecture landscapeStrong analytical, logical thinking and organizational skills, backed by a logical approach, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneouslyData warehousing methodologies and modelling techniques (Kimball, 3NF, Star Schema, Dimension modelling, Data Marts, Operational Data Stores)Exceptional verbal and written communication and creative problem-solving skills including the ability to convey data design insights in actionable business termsWe would prefer for you to have: Master's degree in a technical or healthcare-related field of studyPrior experience of 10+ years in as a Data/ Information Modeler preferably in Commercial and Finance functions in the biotech/pharma industryAstraZeneca embraces diversity and equality of opportunity.
