.Job Purpose: The Direct Buyer Sr is responsible for managing the direct production materials contract for the Reynosa Mexico Plant.
This role will also assist in managing commodity strategies designed to leverage BorgWarner's collective buying power and maximize synergistic opportunities to optimize supplier performance, reduce total supply costs, and meet our technology expectations throughout the supply chain.Key Responsibilities:Manage all commercial aspects with the supply base.Lead the RFQ and supplier selection process for new launch programs.Achieve cost reduction and performance objectives in line with existing strategies.Work in alignment with Production Control and Logistics to resolve supplier shortage/delivery issues.Lead negotiations of basic supplier agreements.Identify and mitigate supply chain risks.Work with Global Commodity Managers to develop and execute commodity strategies at the local plant level.Investigate and develop global sourcing opportunities whenever possible to consolidate and leverage across BorgWarner locations.Update purchase orders at regular intervals per current supplier agreements.Individual contributor travel: Up to 10%, both domestic and international.Responsibilities in the Integrated EHS Management System:Comply with the IGS policy, regulations, and operational controls.Attend all training programs, medical examinations, and other required IGS activities.Participate in the development of internal audits, health and safety commission tours, EGEn, emergency brigades, and other IGS groups, as well as provide necessary support to these.Communicate to the EHS department the need to make changes to processes, materials, and/or related activities for the timely application of the change management process.Authorities in the Integrated EHS Management System:Evaluate and reject machinery, equipment, facilities, and services that do not meet the established safety, health, environmental, and energy management requirements.Authorized to suspend activities that represent a serious and imminent risk of safety, environmental contamination, and/or legal non-compliance, and must immediately inform those responsible for the process and EHS.Approval and discussion of budget requests (economic, technical, and human) required for the administration of the requirements within the management system.Authorized to carry out external communications regarding the IGS to suppliers.Authorized to apply disciplinary measures to suppliers for non-compliance with the IGS.Education & Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management/Engineering/Business Administration Required.5-8 years of purchasing experience working in an automotive production purchasing environment.Experience with Electronics and Mechanical components preferred.Capable of working in a team-based environment.Critical Analysis Skills.Excellent Negotiation Skills
