Job Description Summary: The Pitch Motor/System Engineer will have two primary areas of responsibility. Own the definitions of requirements (spec) and acceptance criteria for the Pitch Motor. This includes responding to customer questions, concerns, and field issues, and translating these into new features or improvements to the GE Vernova product. This role will also be the primary contact for design and packaging changes required to support Wind Turbine product developments and uprates. The second area will be responsible for interfacing with the Pitch system and other subsystems in wind turbine systems. You will work with other design engineers, sourcing, manufacturing, project management,
fleet support, and suppliers to support the entire lifecycle of a pitch system (including the pitch motor) for a wind turbine electrical system. GE Vernova's (GEV) Wind business has a total installed base of more than 50,000 wind turbines in more than 35 countries, with 100+ GW of global installed capacity. Essential Responsibilities
As the Pitch Motor/System Engineer, you will:

Own the Specs of the Pitch Motor in GEV Wind Turbines, translating wind turbine system requirements into hardware definition.Update Released Specs for different motors based on Field lessons learned, quality issues, testing results, etc.Create new Specs documents for new GEV WTs or for already running GEV WTs.As Specs Owner, the following tasks included in Specs document are required:Definition of the Electromechanical RequirementsDefinition and Acceptance Criteria for the Tests to be Performed in a Motor to Qualify it proving that previous requirements are met including certificationClose work with different Teams involved in the Pitch Motor and Pitch System to manage the lifecycle of pitch motors and pitch systems.Support Quality Engineers during the Qualification and Frozen Process Changes Qualifications, as well as different quality issues that could arise.Support Field Engineers on the resolutions of relevant issues that could be happening on the field.Active participation in the interdisciplinary Teams aiming to find Root Causes and Propose Containment and Long Term solutions.Support Sourcing Team in Supplier/GEV discussions and punctual issues that could require an ENG feedback, like new suppliers search and validation.Support other Engineering teams - including Electrical, Hub, Rotor, Gearbox.Interface with the Project Management team related to planning efforts with schedule, resource, and budget allocation.Prepare for, present, and participate in Design Review Meetings while guiding pitch system/electrical team through risk-mitigation efforts to quantify and reduce technical risk of component.Advocate "test and learn" culture while reviewing validation results from: GEV Labs, GEV Prototypes, Vendor facility testing, and Wind Turbine sites.Periodic data monitoring, analysis, and review from testing and/or operating Wind turbines.Interface with Pitch Engineering team on system questions to interface with Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware, and PCBA Circuit Card teams. Build a knowledge of the pitch system role within a Wind Turbine and which requirements are applicable.Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks, in consistency with engineering policies and procedures.Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Minimum of 2 years of Engineering work
Desired Characteristics
- Electrical and Mechanical knowledge on AC (Permanent Magnets Synchronous Motors) and DC Compound Motors
- Electromechanical Brakes
- Encoders / Resolvers
- Shaft voltages and devices to avoid them (Grounding Brushes)
- Motor control methods and associated hardware
- Ability to learn
- Strong interpersonal and demonstrated leadership skills
- Positive mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex problems
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and work with global, cross-function teams within a matrix environment.
- Make good decisions with limited information/data
