What are you accountable for achieving?
Thetesting personnel are responsible for test performance and for reporting test results
Each individual performs only those high complexity tests that are authorized by the
laboratory director or general supervisor and require a degree of skill commensurate with
the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilities
Each individual performing high complexity testing must:
•Follow the laboratory's procedures for test analyses, reviewing and maintaining records
of patient test results
•Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or
reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify
the general supervisor, or laboratory director
•Document all non conformities and corrective actions taken when test systems deviate
from the laboratory's established performance specifications
•Communicate professionally with clients in providing and retrieving necessary
information required for testing (when required/needed) Guidance and client assistance
with the tests offered, test ordering, and pre and post analytical steps
•Witnessing the analytical and post analytical procedure (when required/needed) and
ensure proper documentation (such as reports) is in place
•Be capable of working on weekends and graveyard hours depending on the workload andspecific circumstances
•Be organized and responsible to ensure all laboratory testing is conducted in a safe
and efficient manner
•Records keeping and quality control
•Participation in Validation of new tests or test upgrades
•Conducting molecular analysis techniques and interpretation of results using different
platforms
What will you need as a successful Diagnosis Specialist?
• Possess a current license issued by the Country/State inwhich the laboratory is located if such licensing is required
•Have earned a doctoral, master's, or bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical,
biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited
institution and
•Have education and training equivalent to that specified before by having at least 3
months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual
performs high complexity testing
