Job Summary:
The DevOps Engineer uses their IT experience to provide hardware, software, and network support to the company. They also provide guidance and support to internal and external employees on a wide variety of technical issues.
Job Responsibilities
Evaluates existing computer systems hardware, and performs system upgrades.
Work with Development team to design, test, and deploy maintainable systems.
Identify and solve problems impacting critical business operations and develop automation to prevent reoccurrence.
Assist in the development of continuous integration, delivery, and automation tools.
Maintain Linux environments including OS updates, software deployment, script creation, and backups.
Design and maintain monitoring and alerting for production systems and services.
Identify necessary hardware and software upgrades and make recommendations.
Maintain comprehensive inventory of corporate hardware and licensed software.
Ensure network connectivity on corporate LAN/WAN/WLAN infrastructure.
Maintain network security via corporate firewall, anti-malware, and user training.
Administer and troubleshoot Linux server environments via CLI.
Maintain and ensure proper backups of all critical data.
Installs, integrates, and configures new computer systems and hardware for users.
Provide after-hours, on-call support for employees and customers as needed.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Qualifications:
Working knowledge of DevOps principles and practices.
Linux administration experience (CentOS and Ubuntu preferred).
Scripting knowledge (Bash, Python, Ruby).
Experience with continuous integration and delivery using Jenkins.
Working knowledge of orchestration and configuration management tools.
Experience with cloud providers and their APIs (AWS preferred).
VMWare administration experience.
Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools.
Experience with VCS (Git preferred).
Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking (DNS, DHCP, IP subnetting).
Windows administration and support.
Experience with PostgreSQL desirable.
Experience with container technologies.
Experience with automated monitoring tools, such as New Relic, desirable.
Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
