JOIN THE TEAM We are currently seeking a talented Cloud Architect to join our team at BASF's Agricultural Solutions department Digital Factory. In this role, you will be supporting in the responsibility of design, implementation, and monitoring of our cloud infrastructure solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
We appreciate candidates with a sound technical background in cloud architecture, experience in enterprise-level cloud deployments, and the ability to collaborate with technical teams. As an AWS Cloud Architect, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud solutions that align with business objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES Leading and orchestrating the IT solution process in the various phases of solution design development to ensure smooth execution and compliance with current security and compliance requirements.
Working closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into the solution design.
Creating clear and comprehensive documentation of solution designs, including architecture diagrams and integration descriptions, and presenting them to the Architecture Board.
Selecting appropriate technology stacks and platforms based on governance policies of Enterprise Architecture to maintain consistency in the system landscape of the Agricultural Solutions department.
Regularly validating governance policies against requirements and collaborating with AP Enterprise Architecture if adjustments are necessary.
Continuously reviewing existing solution designs to identify risks and vulnerabilities and providing suggestions for mitigation.
Providing mentorship and guidance to product teams and IT Delivery Leads throughout the entire product lifecycle to implement solutions within product timelines and budgets.
Staying updated on changes in governance policies, as well as new technology offerings in the market and their relevance to our environment.
QUALIFICATIONS Degree in Computer Science.
Further Education in IT/Digitalization.
Experience in at least comparable positions (optional), Project experience (must) and work experience within Digital teams and jobs (must).
Analytical thinking and problem-solving, IT Infrastructure/system landscape, IT Security, IT Technology, System Integration, IT Feasibility study and System Integration.
Advanced English.
Standard Applications, Cloud Provider (Azure / AWS), Consulting Methods, Moderation, Project Management and Change Management.
NICE TO HAVE Strong understanding of IT solutions design principles, methodologies, and best practices.
Ability to conduct requirement analyses by gathering, analyzing, and translating business needs into technical solution designs.
Strong interest and proficiency in modular enterprise and data architecture design across multiple platforms, as well as system integration (including APIs, databases, and third-party systems), and risk management with the ability to adapt to them.
Experience with DevOps Practices: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and AWS services like CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy.
Networking Expertise: Solid understanding of networking concepts, including VPC, subnets, routing, VPN, Direct Connect, and load balancing (ALB, NLB).
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to cloud infrastructure, performance, security, and cost optimization.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): experience with IaC tools like AWS CloudFormation, AWS Control Tower, or Ansible for automated deployments.
Ideally first hands-on AWS Expertise in designing and implementing cloud solutions using AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, CloudFront, good working knowledge with AWS Control Tower and Organizational Configuration.
Cloud Security: awareness of AWS security tools and best practices, including IAM, KMS, security groups, and audit capabilities like AWS CloudTrail.
