The Institute
The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed of an interdisciplinary, motivated, and creative team of scientists, supported by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative core technology units.
In April 2021, CRG received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission. This recognition reflects the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to align practices and procedures with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code).
The role
We are seeking a dynamic Scientific Project Manager to join our Strategy and Funding (Sa F) team. This role involves managing two externally funded projects:
ICTS OMICS TECH: A strategic network of omics technology capacities in Spain, offering open and coordinated access to enhance critical mass, improve competitiveness, and avoid resource redundancies (Coordinator: Eduard Sabidó).COST Action Cor Eu Stem: A European network aiming to harmonize stem cell research and tissue engineering protocols and establish a reference point for stakeholders in stem cell biology and associated technologies (Coordinator: Laura Batlle).The successful candidate will ensure the effective management and implementation of both projects, collaborating closely with project coordinators, consortium partners, the Sa F team, technology transfer, financial management, and communication.
Job duties include: Manage projects to ensure compliance and meet deadlines.Coordinate administrative tasks, delegating where appropriate.Foster communication and collaboration among project partners and relevant initiatives.Ensure timely and high-quality completion of reports, deliverables, and milestones.Coordinate and contribute to the writing of technical and financial reports, and other project documentation.Oversee transversal aspects such as open science, ethics, and innovation.Organize project events, training, meetings, and workshops.Advise partners on scientific, administrative, and horizontal issues, including ethical, legal, and social aspects.Manage project websites and social media for disseminating results to various audiences.Contribute to raising additional funds and preparing new grant applications.Assist with transversal tasks within the Sa F team. The Sa F office enhances the CRG's international and interdisciplinary scope, creating opportunities for scientific collaborations. Whom would we like to hire? - PhD degree in life sciences or related fields is desirable.
- Previous knowledge of COST Action projects would be beneficial.
Languages
- Proficient in spoken and written Spanish and English.
- Knowledge of Catalan is advantageous.
Technical skills
- Expertise in project management and scientific grant writing.
- Strong IT skills (Excel, online communication tools, CMS, etc.).
Transversal Competences
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Proactive, flexible, and problem-solving mindset.
- Team player with the ability to work independently.
- Detail-oriented and well-organized.
The Offer – Working Conditions
- Contract duration: Technical and scientific activity contract linked to the project (estimated June 2026).
- 30 days of annual leave (based on a 40-hour workweek).
- Teleworking option (2 days per week).
- Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales.
- Target start date: November 2024.
