Team Purpose: Working within Managed Services, the DBA Team currently comprises of 7 DBA's, 3 of whom specialize in SQL Server.
The DBA team provides remote database administration for more than 400 SQL Instances across multiple datacentres for many different customers.
Our primary support platforms are SQL Server 2008 through to SQL Server 2022 running on a Windows 2012 to Windows 2022 OS, many of which utilise high availability solutions.
We also support a limited number of legacy solutions such as SQL Server 2000 and 2005 on a Windows 2000/3/8 platform.
Role Purpose: As part of the global operations team, the role will be reporting into the DBA team leader.
It will require interaction with various teams within Managed Services such as Windows, Storage and Virtualization team as well as non-technical teams such as Service Desk, Change Management and the Project Management Office.
The role has no direct reports.
Responsibilities/Accountability: Support and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances and databases.
Provide DBA support to project, development and infrastructure teams.
Respond to all SQL Server related incidents, tasks and requests.
Ensure that all customer SLA's and internal OLA's are maintained.
Assist the team with proactive improvements to internal processes.
Provide recommendations and advice to the customer, in a consultancy role.
Mentor and coach other members of the team.
Participate in the change control process.
On call rotation, available for 24/7 support if contacted.
Required Skills and Experience: At least 4+ years' experience working with SQL Server, versions 2012 through to 2022 in a production environment.
Extensive experience of Windows 2016 and Windows 2019 Operating Systems; experience with Windows2022 is advantageous.
Experience with implementing and supporting SQL Server within a Windows Server Always-On configuration, both WSFC and when using Availability Groups.
Experience with implementing and supporting Database Mirroring.
Experience with Disaster Recovery solutions.
