Your mission:
We are looking for an experienced Database Administration (DBA) Team Lead to lead a talented team of DBAs and ensure the optimal performance, security, and scalability of our database systems. This role will involve close collaboration with development and DevOps teams to plan and execute database strategies that support our high-load, high-availability infrastructure. You will take ownership of database operations, performance tuning, incident management, and the development of fault-tolerant solutions.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the DBA team, overseeing work planning, resource allocation, and team performance.
Collaborate with development teams and business departments to understand database requirements and ensure their successful implementation.
Administer, optimise, and maintain PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, MySQL and ClickHouse databases.
Ensure the security and high availability of all databases, implementing backup, replication, and failover strategies.
Manage and resolve database-related incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and quick recovery.
Conduct regular performance tuning and optimisation efforts to identify and address bottlenecks in database operations.
Design, develop, and automate fault-tolerant, high-load database solutions based on PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
Provide technical support to development teams, assisting with database-related issues, queries, and optimisations.
Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in database administration, including 2+ years managing a team of DBAs.
Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis, with a deep understanding of their administration and optimisation.
Strong knowledge of database configuration best practices, including replication, sharding, and clustering.
Experience in analysing database logs, monitoring performance metrics, and diagnosing locks, slow queries, and performance bottlenecks.
Proficient in SQL, with experience in automating routine database operations.
Proven ability to implement robust backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions for databases.
Fluency in Russian is required for effective communication within the team and across the company.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of virtualisation and containerisation concepts, including experience working with Kubernetes.
Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Zabbix and Prometheus for database health and performance tracking.
Experience with Change Data Capturing (CDC) techniques.
Good understanding of other distributed and NoSQL databases.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor team members and promote collaboration.
Experience working in high-load, large-scale environments requiring fault tolerance and high availability.
