About the team Storytel is looking for a Data Scientist to join our Machine Learning team within the Data Science & Engineering domain. You will work on a diverse set of high-impact projects focused on customer engagement, automated content curation and personalized recommendations. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to designing and building models that enhance how our users interact with our platform, deepening their connection to stories from around the globe. Your insights will help shape our strategies to drive engagement and optimize user experiences. As a Data Scientist at Storytel, you will: Join a centralized Machine Learning team within our larger Engineering organization, working on strategic initiatives to drive customer engagement and retention. Develop and optimize end-to-end machine learning models that will have a high impact on the end user and our decision making processes. Partner closely with the Data Engineering and MLOps teams to ensure smooth deployment, scalability and robustness of machine learning systems. Collaborate with commercial stakeholders to navigate complex requirements, design experiments, measure model performance, and shape data-driven strategies to enhance customer engagement. Leverage your machine learning expertise to contribute to the advancement of Storytel's technical ecosystem , including new model development, MLOps frameworks and scalable data pipelines. Engage in ML community meetings, journal clubs, and peer learning activities to stay at the forefront of industry trends, share insights, and strengthen the team's collective expertise. About you To thrive in this role, we believe that you are a passionate individual who is knowledgeable in customer engagement models and AI technologies. You are an independent thinker who can collaborate effectively with diverse teams and communicate complex ideas clearly. Additionally, you are proactive in educating stakeholders about the value of data-driven solutions and are collaborative by nature. You also have the following experience: An advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields- 3 years of professional experience in data science or machine learning roles- Significant breadth and depth of statistics/ML knowledge. Proven experience building customer engagement models (e.g., churn prediction, customer lifetime value, and customer segmentation). Proficiency in Python and SQL , with experience using version control systems (ex: GitHub). Experience presenting your work to non-technical stakeholders , translating complex ideas into actionable insights. Bonus qualifications: Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and/or the Google Cloud Platform . Hands-on experience with model deployment and a solid understanding of MLOps best practices . Strong knowledge of experimental design and A/B testing methodologies .
