This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join the DS&AI Business Planning & Operations Department within the DS&AI function with a focus on providing financial, resource and portfolio management to support leadership decision-making and engaging with the broader AstraZeneca business.
We are looking for someone with strong Budget and Capacity management skills and experience working with the Senior Leadership Team who wants to contribute towards embedding DS&AI in R&D.
Reporting directly to the Data Science & AI Head of Business Planning & Operations, our DS&AI Budget and Capacity Manager will support directly the relevant DS&AI Departmental heads and work with internal stakeholders including the DS&AI Leadership Team, Project Leads, and Project Managers to DS&AI's portfolio of projects to ensure we deliver budget to target and that we can manage our capacity effectively in relation to key business Processes (e.g.
: RBUs/LTP/MTP).
Accountabilities:
Budget Management
- Builds and tracks functional Budget in collaboration with finance Business Partner following the key R&D processes (e.g.
: RBU/MTP/QBRs)
- Builds and tracks departmental budget in conjunction with department SMEs and finance Business Partner
- Strategic Partnerships' Budget Management
- Builds and tracks Manpower models with the relevant stakeholders.
- Builds and tracks budget accruals
- Provides financial efficiency and productivity data in support of the budget and quarterly financial updates (RBU/LRP/QBR)
- Cybergrants management
Capacity Management
- Manages the portfolio analysis for the function
- Builds and owns a process for resource management across the departments and for the relevant projects/services.
- Performs capacity analysis, identifies supply constraints and provides analysis to senior members of staff within DS&AI.
- Supports the Business Planning and Operations Directors/head in tracking DS&AI performance measures and metrics.
- Strategy Performance/efficiencies/productivities management - KPI's, reporting performance against plans, weekly or quarterly performance reports.
- Delivers capacity planning activities including reconciling demand and supply data from internal reporting systems (e.g.
: for RBU processes)
- Provides capacity data in support of the budget and quarterly financial updates (RBU/LRP/QBR)
- Strategy Planning - assists in the development of corporate plans (e.g.
: objectives on the scorecard), capacity planning, reviewing success of strategic priorities
- Supports the development of the DS&AI Scorecard and provides data in support of DS&AI scorecard performance and productivity measures.
- Works directly with internal stakeholders to ensure current and accurate information is used in capacity planning & performance metrics.
- Identifies and drives improvement initiatives that optimise/automate capacity management processes across DS&AI including implementing technical/automation solutions to enhance efficiency.
- Liaises with internal and external system owners to secure access to data required for DS&AI reporting needs.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- University degree, or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience of using large relational databases
- Strong analytical and planning capabilities.
- Demonstrated business analysis skills.
- Demonstrated Capacity and Budget management expertise and project management abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced Experience in MS Office programs like Excel and business visualisation software (e.g.
: PowerBI) to create visually engaging analyses reports and presentations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Good collaboration required - needs the energy to work across global & functional boundaries both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to work with multiple customers and on multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to prioritise where required.
- Proven experience in business analysis, providing valuable benchmarking and insights to senior management.
- Ability to translate raw information into actionable strategies/business information.
- Proven ability to define opportunities for simplification and automation of DS&AI business reporting needs where possible.
- Proactive: anticipates solutions to problems keeping focus on simplification.
