American Express, one of the world's most iconic brands, is looking for an experienced public relations professional to join its international team as Corporate Affairs & Communications Specialist for American Express in Spain.
This role will be responsible for helping to create and implement the Company's external and internal communications plan in Spain, supporting the Communications Director, Spain, Benelux & Nordics (also based in Madrid). With the aim of protecting and enhancing the reputation of American Express in Spain, this role supports all business units in Spain, helping the business to communicate effectively with customers, the public and colleagues.
This includes designing and delivering both Consumer and Business-to-Business (B2B) public relations and communications campaigns, communicating the American Express brand story to the media, Card Members, merchants and other relevant stakeholders.
The candidate will work with senior management and business leaders in the market to develop the corporate and line-of-business communications strategy and be responsible for the effective implementation of communication plans. There will also be a strong focus on PR agency management.
How you will make an impact in this role?Develop and execute Comms & PR strategies for company initiatives supporting all Business Units, while contributing to an always-on press office function that maintains American Express' public presence.Build and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders including colleagues, media and industry.Respond to media enquiries and prepare spokespeople for interviews.Work in partnership with social media, CST, and internal communications colleagues to deliver a fully integrated communications approach.Support the management of a PR agency in the execution of select projects.Minimum QualificationsStrong understanding of the Spanish media and social media landscape and excellent media contacts.Public Relations experience (either in agency or Company's in-house as a press office) with established ability to manage multiple priorities or journalism experience.Track record of acting as a first point of contact with the external media.Some experience in crisis communications is expected.Ability to deal effectively and confidently with senior internal and external stakeholders.Strong team player capable of working with a diverse group of colleagues and internal business clients.High ethical standards and experience of working with confidential and sensitive information.Language(s): Excellent Spanish & English, spoken and written.Proven ability to craft and implement highly effective Comms & PR strategies and secure high impact media coverage.Excellent attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.Self-motivated team player with proven ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues across a company.A willingness to learn.Offer of employment with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
